As a longtime PlayStation enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of gaming releases, I can confidently say that Astro Bot has truly stolen the show this year! Having had the privilege to dive into its immersive world myself, I can attest to its exceptional gameplay and love for all things PlayStation.
Apart from receiving broad praise from critics, Astro Bot has also demonstrated strong sales performance. It’s achieved notable sales numbers not just in the UK and Japan, but also in the US, mirroring early success in these regions for Sony and Team Asobi’s platformer.
According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella on Bluesky, Astro Bot ranked as the second highest-selling game in the United States during its release week, with both digital and physical sales combined. The only title that outsold it during this period was NBA 2K25. Furthermore, the special edition Astro Bot-themed DualSense controller launched alongside the game was also the top-selling accessory for the same week in the U.S.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that “Astro Bot” is now playable on my PS5! The brilliant minds at Team Asobi are diligently working on some fantastic free DLC for this platformer. This update will include several challenging speedrun levels, new VIP bots, and even leaderboards to test your skills against other players.
I don’t typically discuss weekly updates, but I felt it necessary to provide some background regarding the UK reporting from last week. In both physical and digital platforms, Astro Bot finished second in sales of game units for the week ending September 7th (outperformed only by NBA 2K25). Additionally, the Astro Bot DualSense accessory was the top-selling accessory during that same week. Overall, it was a strong start for the game.
