Pokemon Go Announces Sewaddle Community Day Event

As a seasoned gamer who has been capturing ’em all since the good old days of the Game Boy, I must say that I’m quite excited about Niantic’s choice for October’s Community Day event – Sewaddle! It might seem like an autumnal anomaly to have a Bug/Grass-type Pokemon taking center stage in October, but let’s face it, who didn’t love dressing up their teddy bear in leaves during Halloween?

Just a few days ago, Pokemon Go hosted a Ponyta Community Day event for September, and now Niantic has disclosed their plans for the October event. On Saturday, October 5th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., local time, Sewaddle will take center stage. During this period, you’ll find Sewaddle popping up in the wild much more often, and your chance of encountering a Shiny one will also increase. Given that Sewaddle is a Bug/Grass-type Pokemon, it may seem surprising for October, considering Ghost or Dark-types might have been expected. However, since fall starts by early October, choosing a Pokemon that wears its own leafy clothing aligns perfectly with the season!

What Does Shiny Sewaddle Look Like?

Shiny Sewaddle is fairly similar to the normally colored version. The differences are pretty slight, with a light green replacing the normal yellow on Sewaddle’s head, a darker green leaf-based clothing, and a dark orange on Sewaddle’s nose and appendages. Sewaddle’s first evolution Swadloon has the most unique appearance out of the three Shiny versions, with a light green cloak, white face, and brown leaves. The final evolution, Leavanny, doesn’t offer much change, with some lighter shades of green and yellow versus the standard. Sewaddle Community Day Bonuses and Featured Attack

On Sewaddle Community Day, players can anticipate various rewards within the game. These perks include double Candy for catches, along with a higher chance of obtaining Candy XL for trainers level 31 and above. During this event, Lure Modules and Incense will last for three hours. Eggs inside Incubators during the event will require only one fourth of their usual distance to hatch, making them more effortless to hatch. If a player evolves a Swadloon before 10 p.m. local time, they will receive a Leavanny with the special move Shadow Claw. This attack has a power of 9 in trainer battles and 6 during gym and raid battles.

For players unable to attend the event, there’s a chance to hunt for Shiny Sewaddle from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., based on your local timezone. During this period, Swadloon will be available in four-star Raids, but these battles can only be fought on location and not remotely. If you manage to beat Swadloon, the surrounding Gym area will be swarming with Sewaddle for half an hour, during which Shiny Sewaddle may appear at the same rate as they do during regular Community Day events.
