Bane and Deathstroke Crossover Movie In the Works at DC Studios

As a die-hard DC fan who’s been through countless comic book battles and cinematic showdowns, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the news of Bane and Deathstroke teaming up on the silver screen! The thought of these two titans clashing in a live-action feature is a dream come true.

In a forthcoming movie, it has been confirmed that two powerful antagonists from DC’s city, Bane and Deathstroke, will meet. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, a live-action feature is being developed at DC Studios led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, featuring these Batman adversaries. Matthew Orton, known for his work on Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World,” is writing the script. As of now, no director has been assigned to the project. The exact positioning of this Deathstroke and Bane story within DC Studios’ planned Batman reboot timeline, titled “The Brave and the Bold,” remains undecided.

In their comic book appearances, Bane and Deathstroke have primarily clashed with Batman rather than each other. This has sparked curiosity about how a joint movie featuring these two characters might deviate from traditional DC stories, possibly centering around an antihero team like the Secret Six. Dave Bautista, who collaborated with Gunn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy, has often expressed interest in playing Bane. More recently, Deathstroke was depicted by Joe Manganiello within the DC Extended Universe continuity.

What Is on the DC Universe Slate?

The lineup for DC Studios’ debut will feature “Superman” set to release in 2025, followed by “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” in 2026, with titles like “The Brave and the Bold,” “Swamp Thing,” and “The Authority” yet to be given specific dates. Additionally, they have planned HBO Max series such as “Waller,” “Booster Gold,” “Lanterns,” “Paradise Lost,” and an animated “Creature Commandos.” Reports hint at the development of a live-action “Teen Titans” movie and an animated “Jurassic League” movie, although neither have been officially announced by DC Studios.

In 2023, Gunn clarified, “Many believe we’re following in Marvel’s footsteps, but I learned a great deal at Marvel. However, there are significant differences. Our narrative is grand and expansive, similar to Marvel, but more meticulously plotted from the outset because we have a team of writers collaborating on the storyline completely. Yet, we’re also developing a universe that resembles Star Wars or Game of Thrones, with multiple timelines, settings, and characters that possess varying shades of morality.
