Kelly Clarkson Apologizes After Las Vegas Residency Show Cancellation

Kelly Clarkson is grateful to have a moment like this.

A week following the unexpected termination of the initial pair of performances during her Studio Sessions residency at Las Vegas’ Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace, the former American Idol contestant tendered an apology to commence the show.

The host of the Kelly Clarkson Show apologized to the audience on July 11 through a TikTok video. They explained that they needed a moment, and expressed their regret because some people had tickets for the previous weekend’s shows. They acknowledged that sometimes our bodies can become ill, which unfortunately happened in this case.

She also expressed her gratitude for everyone present, saying, “Thank you all for coming!” She was brimming with excitement. This residency and this particular show are her favorites, as she truly cherishes working in the studio.

During her performance, the singer of “Piece by Piece” inserted an additional element of festivity, more emphatically conveying her disappointment at having to cancel the shows.

Kelly, aged 43, expressed her joy through Entertainment Weekly as she stated that she was glad she wasn’t canceled last weekend since she had been previously scheduled to do so due to illness; she cried and felt terrible about it, but now she’s ecstatic to be present.

On the eve of her performance on July 4th, Kelly – mother to River (11) and Remington (9), both children she had with ex-spouse Brandon Blackstock – disclosed that she wouldn’t perform due to a vocal injury.

She expressed, on her Instagram post dated July 4th, that the preparations and rehearsals have left her voice feeling strained. To ensure the performances are flawless for you and to avoid causing permanent harm, she’s decided to take this weekend and the following week off to recuperate. This way, we can present the extraordinary show that you all deserve.

As a die-hard admirer, let me tell you, those musicians and vocalists are nothing short of extraordinary! To kick things off with a bang, that’s the plan. Counting down the days until I’m back next weekend, eager to share with all of you the fruit of our labor.

As I eagerly anticipate my return to the vibrant heart of Sin City for another round of performances, I can’t help but reminisce about the enchanting intimacy I aim to create during this 16-show extravaganza. It’s a unique connection that only an obsessed fan like myself can truly appreciate!

On the May 6th episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, the ‘Breakaway’ singer expressed enthusiasm, stating, ‘This one is unique’. She explained that she brought on additional musicians and vocalists to ensure a richer, live experience without any pre-recorded backing tracks. It’s all about organic sounds, everything is performed live. Although we’re always performing live, there are certain studio limitations that can’t be fully compensated for.

She went on to explain, “I aimed to create an atmosphere where it feels like you’re right here in our studio.” This way, you can listen just as we do, and that makes it really unique and special.

In a December 2024 episode of her self-titled series, Kelly Clarkson’s children, River and Remy (who are from her marriage with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock), adorably took the spotlight.

For the 2024 Grammys, the “Because Of You” brought her son Remy as her plus-one.

Kelly posted a photo from backstage during her Las Vegas residency performance in August 2023, right before her children unexpectedly took the stage with her.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer was joined by her daughter Remy at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards.

In September 2022, River and Remy joyfully marked the occasion of their mom being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 2019, Kelly and Brandon joined Remy, River, and Brandon’s children Seth and Savannah at the premiere of her movie “UglyDolls”. The winner of American Idol would file for divorce from his manager the next year, and their marriage was legally ended in 2022.

River and Remy sat alongside celebrity guest Jason Momoa on their mom’s talk show in 2019.

Kelly enjoyed some fun in the sun with Remy and River Rose in 2018.

Kelly’s kids made the cutest cameo when they joined Hoda Kotb on a 2017 episode of Today.

Who doesn’t love a day at Disneyland with mom?

River and Remy were ready to help put out fires and solve crime in their costumes.

The kids buckled up for a family drive.

It was evident that River had inherited her mother’s talent for performing, and Kelly could not have felt prouder.

In a delightful manner, Kelly expressed her enthusiasm with the caption: “You all in New York City aren’t prepared for Remy B… I’m simply overjoyed!!!” on this charming photo of her son.

Kelly was all smiles as she took this selfie with her daughter.

In 2017, the native Texan included her daughter in the making of her music video, sharing some enjoyable backstage moments together.

In May 2017, the fam took in a Nashville Predators hockey game and even rocked matching jerseys.

Ugh, could this be any cuter of an Easter moment?

Remy’s first birthday in 2017 was a total blast and included a massive cake!

In the chilly weather of December 2016, Kelly and River participated in the Nashville Christmas Parade, looking adorable and charming.

During a trip to Washington D.C., Kelly’s kids were given a ride (on something) by their half-brother Seth, who used a blanket for the purpose.

To mark the release of her charming kids’ book, this loving mother posted an endearing photo featuring herself and her little girl.

On Mother’s Day, the singer shared a heartfelt tribute, complete with an endearing picture showcasing three generations of family.

Live from New York…it’s Kelly’s little one hanging out with SNL alum Jimmy Fallon.

In October 2014, the Grammy winner shared her first photo of daughter River Rose.
