Tubi is now streaming the classic adventure film Jumanji! The movie, which is based on the popular children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, became available on January 1st. It stars Robin Williams as Alan Parrish, a boy who gets stuck inside a mysterious jungle board game in 1969. Years later, two kids find the game and start playing, accidentally freeing Alan and unleashing a host of wild creatures – including huge insects, mischievous monkeys, and dangerous animals!

With a budget of about $100 million, the film brilliantly combined technical skill, a compelling story, and strong acting, leading to widespread recognition. It received nominations for Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan), Best Director (Ryan Coogler), and, importantly, Best Picture. While expected, the Best Picture nomination is significant: it makes the film only the eighth horror movie ever to be considered for the Academy Award for Best Picture, as shown in the following table.

It’s a bit ironic that the comic book series based on the original Teen Titans cartoon was called “Teen Titans Go,” because it’s different from the current show on TV. In the 51st issue, the comic introduced Geo-Force as an enemy for the Titans. He’s a DC hero who never appeared in the cartoon itself. When the team deals with a rock monster who’s looking for someone, they quickly discover it’s actually Geo-Force – and he happens to be Terra’s brother. Raven uses her powers to read Geo-Force’s mind while he’s held captive, finally confirming the true identities of both him and Terra.

Microsoft unexpectedly added the original The Sims and The Sims 2 to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Now, all four main Sims games are available through the Microsoft subscription service, as The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 were already included.

Created in 1999 for Fox, Heat Vision and Jack was a truly unusual comedy, bringing together a lot of talent in a way that felt innovative for its time. The show was directed by Ben Stiller and written by up-and-coming comedy writers Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab. It centers around Jack Austin (Owen Wilson), an ex-astronaut who gains incredible intelligence after an accident involving the sun – but loses it every sunset. He teams up with his roommate, Doug (also Owen Wilson), who’s been literally fused with a motorcycle thanks to a NASA experiment, becoming the talking vehicle known as Heat Vision. Together, they travel the country investigating strange, paranormal events, all while being chased by the real actor Ron Silver, who plays a secret assassin.

After a long hiatus, the popular comic book character Howard the Duck returned with his own solo series on January 23, 2002. Fans had been waiting since 1981 for the animal detective to star in his own title again.

Netflix’s crime drama miniseries, Untamed, was a huge success in 2025, attracting 93 million viewers and becoming the most popular new show of the latter half of the year. Only two other series—the fifth season of Stranger Things and the second season of Wednesday—were more popular, and those are already Netflix’s biggest hits.
