On December 24th, the 34-year-old actress shared a cute snowy selfie with her 5-year-old son, Rhodes. Emma was all smiles, with red hair peeking out from under her floral beanie, while Rhodes sweetly grinned in front of her, sporting a matching green beanie and coat. She simply captioned the picture, “merry merry!”
Emma welcomed her son, Rhodes, on December 27, 2020, just before turning five. The arrival of Rhodes, with then-partner Garrett Hedlund, has profoundly changed Emma’s life over the past five years. She is now engaged to Cody John.
Emma recently shared with Harper’s Bazaar Spain that becoming a mother has profoundly deepened her emotional range and understanding, both in her personal life and her career. She described seeing the world through her son’s eyes as a beautiful and perspective-shifting experience.
She also noted that it’s a never-ending journey.
She explained that she’s still learning about herself, both as an individual and as a mom. She always strives to do well, even though she doesn’t always get it right, but she consistently makes the effort.
Becoming a mother to a son has changed the way the Scream Queens actress views not only her career, but everything in her life.
“It’s hard to describe without sounding like I’m repeating what everyone says, but it’s all true,” Emma explained to Forbes in 2021. “Having a child completely changes your perspective. Before, you only had to think about yourself and make choices for your own life. Now that I’m responsible for another person, I feel a much greater sense of responsibility in everything I do.”

Becoming a mother has given her a newfound appreciation for all moms, including her own.
She expressed immense love and gratitude for her mother, Kelly Cunningham, saying, ‘I absolutely adore my mom.’ She explained that after having her son, she felt overwhelmingly emotional and wanted to thank her mother for everything she’d done for her.
She explained that being a mother is a demanding, full-time commitment and expressed hope that all mothers feel secure and satisfied with their efforts, acknowledging how challenging it can be to feel like you’re always making the right choices.
