Victor von Doom, ruler of Latveria, has maintained his authority through a firm grip for quite some time. Sitting on his throne at Castle Doom, this masked monarch has persistently sought to dominate the Marvel Universe by utilizing his scientific expertise and magical abilities against heroes such as the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and Doctor Strange. Over the years, Doctor Doom has demonstrated an impressive array of powers, including harnessing the Silver Surfer’s Power Cosmic, controlling the Scarlet Witch’s reality-bending abilities, reigning over multiple realities as God Emperor Doom with the powers of the Beyonders in Secret Wars, and now holding absolute power as the new Sorcerer Supreme.
2025 will mark the return of Doom’s ominous rule in the world known as One World Under Doom, according to Marvel Comics. This significant change in the comic book universe’s status quo is said to be the biggest since 2008’s “Dark Reign”, when Doom joined forces with Norman Osborn’s group following the events of “Secret Invasion”.

According to Marvel Comics VP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, “One World Under Doom” serves as a sweeping influence, affecting not only “The Rise of Emperor Doom” but the entire Marvel Universe. By next year (2025), Avengers, Spider-Man, and many others should brace for Doom’s effects to reach every nook and cranny of the universe.
North states, “According to North, ‘One World Under Doom’ implies Doctor Doom emerging from Latveria and quickly seizing control of the globe. Each nation becomes a province in a unified Latveria, with everyone reporting to Doom, who intends to make some adjustments… He wishes to demonstrate his superiority in his craft, which might not be beneficial for anyone not named Victor Von Doom.

Approximately half a year ago, Doctor Victor Von Doom assumed the role of Sorcerer Supreme and subsequently secluded himself within Latveria’s fortified boundaries. For many, his absence is not a pressing concern amidst the ongoing global events, and the respite seems almost gratifying. However, there are a select few who perceive it as something more ominous… a prelude to an impending turmoil. That storm has now materialized.

One World Under Doom
In the role of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Doom chose Spider-Man as his champion in a sacred alliance called The Covenant. It was Doctor Strange’s duty to employ his powers as Sorcerer Supreme and protect the world from Cyttorak and his offspring, but instead, he passed this responsibility onto Spider-Man. In issue #61 of Amazing Spider-Man, Doctor Doom bestows upon Spider-Man eight additional lives and a magical armor inspired by himself to endure repeated suffering and death in The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man.
