This coming week, there’s a change in EastEnders‘ broadcast schedule – offering viewers two episodes of the soap opera on Tuesday (15th July).
Starting this week, in addition to every episode being accessible on iPlayer from 6am daily (Monday through Thursday), you’ll also have the chance to watch it live! Specifically, tune in at 7:30 PM on Monday, and again on Tuesday at both 7:30 PM and 8 PM, with another viewing opportunity on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
Due to the broadcast of the Women’s UEFA Euros quarter-finals, featuring England versus Sweden at 8 pm on Thursday and Spain versus Switzerland on Friday, the episodes scheduled for those days have been rescheduled.
The schedule change coincides with the ongoing drama at Walford, as some surprising characters are expected to cause a stir in the Square.
Commencing from now, Max Branning’s long-absent son, Oscar, makes his comeback. Since 2017, he has resided with his mother, Tanya, off the screens.
Currently a teenager, Oscar (portrayed by novice actor Pierre Moullier), is fetched following an unanticipated phone call that causes his older sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to rush to pick him up from a juvenile correctional facility.
Cheeky Oscar arrives with a bang and an ankle tag, and is set to cause trouble across the Square.
Fans are aware that he is very much like the Branning family, which means there will likely be problems wherever he goes. The ankle monitor only reinforces this, suggesting potential issues even before they occur.
This week, we’ll witness the return of Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) to the Square. She’s coming back after a 27-year absence to take care of her estranged husband Nigel (Paul Bradley), as his dementia progressively affects his memory.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I find myself reminiscing about the time when Julie and I embarked on an exciting journey beyond Albert Square in 1998, seeking a fresh start in the mystical lands of Scotland. However, our heartwarming tale took an unexpected turn last Christmas, as my dear friend Nigel returned to us after receiving a difficult diagnosis of dementia.
To avoid being a bother to Julie, Nigel has chosen to keep a low profile from his wife. In the meantime, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is providing support and companionship for his old friend.
This week, despite Nigel’s preference, Phil is encouraged by Kat Moon (played by Jessie Wallace) to contact Julie – and she lends a helping hand to his situation instead.
After being apart for almost two years, they both find themselves with numerous questions to ask one another.
