One Publisher Quietly Dominated 2025’s Best‑Selling Games List

2025 saw a huge number of video game releases from publishers of all sizes, and the competition for top sales was fierce. While indie games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which won Game of the Year, found great success, larger publishers also performed well. In fact, one major publisher had three titles appear on the list of the ten best-selling games of the year.

Electronic Arts had a strong year, with three of the top ten best-selling games. This is largely due to their consistently popular sports titles. However, the biggest hit of 2025 was actually Battlefield 6. Remarkably, Battlefield 6 only being on sale for 82 days out of the year – it was released on October 10th – didn’t stop it from selling over 20 million copies and continuing to fly off the shelves.

EA Landed Three of the Top Ten Best-Selling Games in 2025

Electronic Arts’ most popular games include Battlefield 6, which is currently number one, followed by EA Sports College Football 26 at number five and Madden NFL 26 at number six. Other top titles include NBA 2K26, Monster Hunter: Wilds, the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Ghost of Tsushima. Madden NFL 26 quickly became a hit, selling over 1.4 million copies in just one day, a testament to the long-standing popularity of the Madden franchise and EA’s continued success as a leading game publisher.

You won’t believe this, but Battlefield 6 just snagged the award for Best Audio Design at The Game Awards! Seriously, the sound design in that game is incredible. And a huge thanks to everyone who’s been playing with me – we really held the line together! It means a lot.

Both EA Sports College Football 26 and other sports games have seen strong sales, with College Football 26 leading the charts in July and maintaining popularity. However, the biggest success for EA came with Battlefield 6. It had the largest launch ever for the series and earned over $350 million in revenue in its first month, especially around the holidays.

I’ve been a gamer for years, and I remember when EA really started making a name for itself back in ’82. That “EA Sports, It’s in the game” slogan was everywhere! They definitely caught some heat a while back for how much they were pushing microtransactions, and while they still use them, it doesn’t seem quite as bad as it used to be. Honestly, lately they’ve been knocking it out of the park with some really great games that people are loving. If they keep making the kinds of games we want to play, I wouldn’t be surprised to see EA titles dominating the best-seller charts in 2026 and for years to come.
