Quinta Brunson is putting pregnancy speculation in detention.
Janelle James, known for her role on Abbott Elementary, quickly denied rumors she was expecting a baby. The speculation started after fans noticed she wore a loose-fitting sweater at a New Year’s Eve party, leading some to believe she was hiding a baby bump.
Quinta recently posted a photo on Instagram wearing a white sweater and beanie with a “2026” headband. She clarified in her Story that she’s not pregnant, and the way her sweater looked in the picture was just due to its positioning.
The 36-year-old jokingly added, “Not 2026 already getting my ass.”
And Quinta is not a fan of chatter about her personal life.
She told Bustle in June that many people assume celebrities want constant public attention, but she assures readers that’s not true for anyone she knows.
She was upset by reports claiming she publicly announced her divorce from Kevin Anik. In reality, she had privately filed for legal separation in March, after being married for three years.
She clarified that she hadn’t made any public statement about her divorce, explaining that the legal documents were just available for anyone to see in court records.
She added of the headlines about her split, “I hated that. I hate all of it.”

However, this doesn’t mean the Emmy-winning creator—who began her career at Buzzfeed and later made her popular ABC comedy—doesn’t enjoy interacting with her fans.
Quinta expressed her appreciation for her fans and viewers of Abbott Elementary, but emphasized the importance of maintaining privacy and not letting personal life discussions affect her. She explained that it’s necessary to disconnect from those conversations sometimes.
She explained that these voices weren’t coming from anyone she knew or from within her own life – they were completely external and unfamiliar.
