I’m More Comfortable

Apart from “The Great British Sewing Bee,” another favorite show is making a comeback on our television sets. Once again, Sara Pascoe will be in charge as she guides us in searching for the most skilled home sewer that Britain has to offer.

This week on BBC One, Pascoe is back to oversee a fresh season, with twelve talented seamstresses from across the country taking on intricate and demanding tasks to showcase their sewing prowess.

Last Christmas, Pascoe came back following her parental leave, rejoining the show that saw comedian Kiell Smith-Bynoe take over as host during season 10.

But now she’s back – and is very glad to be back in the sewing room.

In an interview prior to the show’s premiere, I shared that I deeply felt the absence of everyone last year and experienced quite a bit of FOMO – fear of missing out – knowing I wasn’t part of it all.

Pascoe went on to say, “It was great to return after some time off and find myself fully at ease in my position. Naturally, when you’re new to something, you’re figuring out the ropes: what strategies work, what don’t. In the beginning, interacting with the sewers all day sometimes felt a bit like wondering, ‘What should I ask them next?’

However, as she returned to shoot a fresh series, Pascoe discovered herself becoming quite comfortable with casual conversations. It was particularly advantageous that this year’s sewer crew were all excellent conversationalists.

The show is back, bringing not just fresh sewer designs, but also unique themed tasks from judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young, such as the Korean and 1920s eras.

Pascoe stated that the 1920s has never been attempted before, which he found fascinating due to its distinctive fashion. He went on to say that, as a design challenge, there were plus fours – trousers unfamiliar to him – and they were simply magnificent. Upon seeing them, his immediate thought was: “I must have a pair.

“The Korea Week event was fantastic! South Korea is leading the cultural wave and impacting everything globally, and we were fortunate to have acclaimed fashion designer Eudon Choi as our exceptional guest judge.

Over the next ten thrilling weeks, I, a true cinephile, am eagerly anticipating a rollercoaster ride of unexpected twists and rich narratives that will undoubtedly test my cinematic prowess!
