The Culling Game Begins

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen was a major anime highlight in 2023 and 2024. When villains like Suguru Geto and Mahito launched an attack on Shibuya, Yuji and his allies found themselves in an impossible situation. After Gojo was trapped in a dimension called the “Prison Realm,” Itadori and the strongest Jujutsu Tech students battled waves of powerful curses. This arc dramatically changed the series, with both heroes and villains losing their lives, and Geto using the chaos to initiate the next story arc, the Culling Game.

The first few episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen season three were actually released as part of the movie Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution late last year. The film was a big success, earning millions and showing that fans were eager to see what happens next in the story. Season three will focus on a tournament arc, bringing all the different characters and forces together in Japan, as Geto aims to unleash a massive wave of curses and cursed energy users. While Studio MAPPA hasn’t announced the total episode count yet, previous seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen each had around twenty-four episodes. Given the amount of story left to cover from the original manga, it’s likely that MAPPA will create a fourth season to fully adapt the story and reach its conclusion.

I’m really noticing how quickly Jujutsu Kaisen is gaining popularity – it just hit a huge milestone in the manga world! I’m curious to hear what everyone else thinks, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and join the discussion over in the ComicBook Forum.
