Kayla Vesia is checking in following an unimaginable loss.
Following the heartbreaking announcement on November 7th that their daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, had passed away, Kayla has now spoken publicly for the first time about how she and her husband, Alex Vesia, are coping with their loss.
In a TikTok video posted on January 2nd, Kayla, 29, explained she wasn’t sure what to say. She and Alex are taking things one day at a time, and each day feels different, making it hard to find the right words.
The Los Angeles Dodgers player and their partner announced the tragic loss of their baby daughter on October 26th in a post on Instagram, expressing their immense grief. Reflecting on the experience, Kayla said she’s still struggling to accept what happened.
She later said in the video, fighting back tears, that she thought she was ready for anything—except for leaving the hospital without her baby.
Despite everything that’s happened, Kayla is thankful for all the support she’s received, especially from her husband’s teammates.
She added that it felt important to personally express her gratitude. She was truly thankful for the support and kindness everyone had shown them, which had been a real comfort during a difficult time.
As many of you know, I share a lot of my life online, and I’ve been thinking a lot about the future of my content. I really want to use my platform to help other families who might be going through similar challenges. I’m hoping to create resources and share my experiences in a way that’s supportive and relatable, because honestly, we’re all just trying to figure things out together.
Fighting back tears, Kayla explained that she wasn’t sure what she would be sharing in the future, but she wanted to document her experiences. She didn’t know exactly how much detail she’d reveal, but hoped that by sharing, she could help others going through similar challenges feel less isolated.
Kayla, who married the baseball player in January 2025, became emotional while thanking her fans, but she explained that she wants to use her public voice to create a supportive environment for dealing with difficult feelings.
Honestly, I just need to hear her voice, you know? She said she doesn’t want to go online and be all sad and upset – she doesn’t think anyone would enjoy that, and she’s so considerate like that. But she also said this is a way for her to talk things through, a place to share what’s going on, and it’s different from just her and Alex talking, or even going to therapy. It’s like…another way for her to get it all out, and I’m just so glad she’s finding healthy ways to cope. I’m just living for these little updates, seriously!
Kayla isn’t sure what’s next, but she’s excited about returning to creating content.
She wished everyone a happy new year, saying she wasn’t sure what the year ahead held. She plans to gradually become more active again and sent her love to everyone, adding that she didn’t have much else to share at the moment.

Kayla and Alex Vesia confirmed their relationship on Instagram in April 2019. Kayla playfully announced it with a post saying, “GAME OVER (literally & metaphorically).”
When Alex started playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, Kayla and his parents were his most enthusiastic supporters, cheering him on from the stands.

Once the Dodgers secured their place in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Kayla publicly celebrated her partner with a post that simply read, “& NOW… ONTO THE WORLD SERIES.”
