Crunchyroll is set to have a huge year for anime, and this month is already packed with highly anticipated new seasons and returning favorites. With shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Fire Force, and Oshi no Ko all releasing new episodes, it’s understandable if fans are feeling a bit overloaded. To help viewers get ready, one popular anime series has released a five-minute recap video ahead of its final season, which arrives in about a week.
Following the success of Trigun Stampede, a reimagining of the classic anime by Studio Orange, comes Trigun Stargaze. The original Trigun anime, created by Madhouse in the 1990s, is a beloved series, so Orange had a challenge to live up to its legacy. This new series, developed with input from Trigun creator Yatsuhiro Nightow, stays more faithful to the original manga than the first anime adaptation. If you missed Stampede, you can watch the five-minute recap video below to get ready for Vash the Stampede’s return later this month.
The Changes From Stampede to Stargaze

The new anime series, Trigun Stampede, reimagined familiar characters like Vash, Wolfwood, and Meryl. However, a fan favorite from the original story, Milly Thompson, hadn’t appeared yet. Now, in Trigun Stargaze, Milly will finally join the anime world with a fresh new look and will team up with Meryl. The original anime showed a romance between Milly and Wolfwood, which ended tragically with Wolfwood’s death. It will be interesting to see if Trigun Stargaze will repeat this heartbreaking storyline for the couple when the series begins later this month.
The first Trigun manga concluded in 2007 with the release of Trigun Maximum. Because the original anime finished airing long before the manga’s end, the anime’s version of the battle between Vash and Knives differed from the manga. Now, with Trigun Stargaze, fans can expect a conclusion that will likely be very different from the one originally created by Studio Madhouse.
Crunchyroll describes the new series as taking place two and a half years after the devastating Lost JuLai incident, which caused widespread chaos. Meryl, now an experienced journalist, continues her search for Vash, joined by her new partner Milly. They cross paths with Wolfwood as a series of plant robberies suggest the return of Millions Knives’ organization. Meanwhile, Vash is living in hiding under the name Eriks when a young girl named Jessica arrives with a distress signal from their ship. This prompts him to end a long-running conflict to protect the people he cares about.
