For over 30 years, the Power Rangers have entertained audiences with memorable characters and exciting stories. Whether you grew up with the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, enjoyed seasons like Time Force and In Space, or are a fan of newer series like Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury, or even the Power Rangers comics, there are plenty of great Rangers to choose from. Picking the strongest Rangers from across all those years is tough, but we’ve done our best to create a list of the top 7!
7. Zayto (Cosmic Fury)
Let’s start with Zayto, a relatively new addition to the Power Rangers universe from Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury. He began as the Red Ranger and eventually evolved into a powerful Morphin Master. Zayto actually led a team of Dino Fury Rangers 65 million years ago, and after being revived, he led them again in the present day. Beyond his strong fighting skills and typical Ranger abilities, Zayto’s most remarkable trait is his ability to grow stronger by traveling between the worlds of the living and the dead.
Throughout the series, Zayto has experienced death twice, and each time he’s come back stronger. The first time he died, the Morphin Masters revived him as the Cosmic Fury Zenith Ranger, granting him powerful magical abilities to assist his teammates. However, using this magic came at a cost – it shortened his life. He eventually sacrificed himself again to save the Rangers, transforming into his ultimate, most powerful form: a Morphin Master. Regardless of his form, Zayto remains a true Ranger, and his journey clearly demonstrates why he’s a standout character.
6. Tommy With Master Morpher (Ninja Steel)
It was always expected that Tommy Oliver would appear on this list, but his ranking might be a surprise. Tommy Oliver, famously played by Jason David Frank, is arguably the most iconic Power Ranger ever. With him having played five different Rangers, choosing just one version for this list was tricky. However, one form stands out as clearly his most powerful, instantly placing him among the strongest Rangers.
This refers to Tommy’s Master Morpher appearance in Power Rangers Ninja Steel. While already strong as the White and Black Dino Rangers, the Master Morpher lets Tommy instantly transform into the White, Black, Green, Red Zeo, and Red Turbo Rangers. He can also use the Zords and special powers associated with each of these forms. This makes an already legendary Ranger even more powerful, solidifying Tommy’s place as one of the best.
5. Anubus “Doggie” Cruger (S.P.D.)
Let’s talk about Anubis “Doggie” Cruger from Power Rangers S.P.D. He starts the series as the leader of the S.P.D. A and B-Squads, quickly establishing himself as a strong leader and talented fighter, particularly with a sword. It’s fitting, then, that he uses the powerful Shadow Saber, capable of unleashing the devastating Containment Strike.
Cruger is incredibly powerful, with superhuman hearing and a unique physiology. However, it’s his extensive experience and skill as a leader and strategist that truly make him exceptional. Throughout the series, Cruger was instrumental in defeating the Rangers’ enemies, consistently using his tactical genius to guide them to victory.
4. Karone (In Space/Lost Galaxy)
Throughout the Power Rangers series, some Rangers used to be villains, but Karone stands out as one of the most powerful. Fans who first watched the show with In Space will remember her as Astronema, a truly iconic villain who was a formidable opponent for the entire Power Rangers In Space team.
After Kendrix Morgan, Karone gained her powers and became the Pink Ranger of the Lost Galaxy. This gave her not only the abilities of a Power Ranger and her existing telekinesis, but also access to the Pink Quasar Saber and the Wildcat Galactabeast. With additional enhancements from the Lights of Orion, Karone quickly became one of the most adaptable and powerful Rangers ever.
3. Daggeron, Solaris Knight (Mystic Force)
In Power Rangers Mystic Force, magic is a central theme, and fans first meet Daggeron, one of the most powerful Rangers ever. Also known as the Solaris Knight, Daggeron is an incredibly strong, ancient mystic who trapped himself in a cave to keep the villain Calindor from breaking free. He later joins the Mystic Force Rangers and agrees to help train them.
As the Ranger, Solaris Knight is a powerful fighter, equipped with a Laser Lamp blaster and a Mystic Sword that grant him deadly abilities, like the Sun Spell – a one-hit-kill attack. He also has a Mystic Carpet, which is more about style than strength. When he transforms into Ancient Mystic Mode, he gains immunity to strong attacks and can unleash powerful energy blasts. The magical source in Mystic Force is incredibly potent, and Daggeron is one of its most skilled users, even if the show doesn’t fully showcase its potential.
2. Orion (Super Megaforce)
As a huge Power Rangers fan, I’ve always loved Orion. He’s consistently ranked as one of the strongest Rangers, and it’s easy to see why! He’s already incredibly powerful on his own, but what really sets him apart is his weapon – the Super Silver Spear. It’s amazing because it doesn’t just function as a spear; it can also transform into a blaster, giving him extra range without sacrificing any of its punch. It’s a really versatile and effective weapon!
Orion also has the unique ability to draw power from past sixth Rangers. He could transform into any of them, including well-known characters like the Green Ranger, the Silver Space Ranger, and the Gold Ranger, as well as the White Dino Ranger, among others. By combining the power of all these Rangers, he could even become Super Megaforce Gold, reaching incredible levels of strength. Orion’s potential is virtually limitless, which is why he’s considered second best on this list.
1. Lord Drakkon Evo III (BOOM! Studios Comics)
Everyone on this list is a powerful opponent, but Lord Drakkon stands above the rest. He’s the only one who has defeated most of the Power Rangers teams, stolen their powers, and completely reshaped the world. Before briefly becoming an ally, he was undeniably the most dangerous villain the series had ever seen.
Lord Drakkon was an alternate version of Tommy Oliver who teamed up with Rita Repulsa. He interrupted Zordon’s attempt to make Jason the White Ranger, taking the power for himself and merging it with his Green Ranger abilities. But that was only the start. Drakkon eventually conquered the universe with an army of Ranger Sentries, collecting Rangers and stealing their morphers to fuel his power. Using these stolen morphers, he became incredibly powerful, and after taking the heart of the Master, he remade the world in his own vision.
Lord Drakkon’s influence was enormous, even though he was eventually defeated by Tommy, a Ranger from our world. He caused widespread destruction and lasting damage, fundamentally changing the lives of those who survived. What makes him particularly impactful is that he was a corrupted version of a much-loved hero. For these reasons, Lord Drakkon is considered the most significant villain.
