On Monday, HBO unveiled some updates on their upcoming TV series based on Harry Potter, including four fresh faces joining the cast. One of them is Amos Kitson, who will portray Harry’s former tormentor Dudley Dursley. Let’s hope Kitson fans give him a warm welcome off-screen so he can fully enjoy his role, just as Harry Melling did in the initial film series. The other new additions are Rory Wilmot stepping into Neville Longbottom, Louise Brealey taking on Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser playing Mr. Ollivander. Additionally, it was confirmed that the show will debut in 2027 instead of the previously planned 2026 release. Currently, production is underway for the series.
The upcoming remake of the “Harry Potter” series is progressing, as several key cast members have been announced and production has officially begun. A recent press release also unveiled an image of Dominic McLaughlin portraying Harry Potter on set, holding a clapperboard. Throughout the series, McLaughlin will primarily work alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. However, before they can start their adventures together, Harry must first escape from his family, the Dursleys.

In most cases for child actors joining this show, Kitson hasn’t worked in Hollywood before. Wilmot, on the other hand, has only one credit under his belt from FBI: International last year, and is set to appear in the British drama Out of the Dust, currently in post-production. When the story unfolds, Harry, along with his cousin and classmates, are all 11 years old, which is a significant undertaking for young performers – something we’ve witnessed not so long ago with film series adaptations. Some of these actors grew up to become movie stars, while others chose to move on from acting after their Hogwarts days ended.
Regarding the characters, Madam Rolanda Hooch serves as a flying instructor for first-year students at Hogwarts and oversees Quidditch matches. If the series emphasizes the magical sport, we can expect to see Madam Hooch prominently featured throughout. On the other hand, Ollivander crafts and sells wands, including Harry’s enchanted one. His role will involve an ominous scene at the start and a more significant part in the final moments of the storyline.
Currently, the Harry Potter film series is being produced and set to air on both HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2027. Until then, fans can enjoy the movie adaptations streaming on HBO Max, or read the books in print, digital, or audiobook formats.
