Wuthering Waves: Trials of Old Side Quest Guide

As a seasoned player of Wuthering Waves who has sailed through countless islands and battled formidable foes, I must say that the Adventures in Porto-Veno Castle were an intriguing diversion from the usual quests. The trials were simple yet engaging, each one showcasing a different aspect of the gameplay.

The Trial of Bravery was a refreshing change from the complex puzzles and strategic battles I’m accustomed to, serving as a reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a good old-fashioned fight. The Trial of Swiftness, on the other hand, tested my agility and quick thinking, making me feel like a true pirate navigating through treacherous waters.

However, I must admit, the environmental puzzles in the Fighting Spirits sections were a bit too easy for my taste. I found myself yearning for more challenging riddles or brain-teasing conundrums to solve. But alas, I’m not complaining! I appreciate the developers’ decision to cater to players of all skill levels.

The Trial of Swiftness also had a humorous touch with the Cuddle Wuddle transformations. It was amusing to see such a powerful character reduced to a cute, fluffy ball, albeit temporarily.

In the end, I must commend the developers for creating an engaging and enjoyable side quest. The storyline was intriguing, the challenges were fun, and the rewards were well-earned. I look forward to seeing what other adventures await me in this exciting new region!

And as a parting shot, let me leave you with this: If you’re ever in a tight spot during your Wuthering Waves journey, just remember – sometimes, all it takes is a well-timed transformation into Cuddle Wuddle to solve even the most daunting problems!

Recently, Wuthering Waves unveiled an extensive update brimming with fresh content, such as an entire region rife with enigmas and tasks waiting to be explored and conquered. In this guide, we delve into the side quest titled “Veteran Ordeals“, which consists of a sequence of trials that need to be surmounted.

Trials of Old Side Quest Guide

At the onset of the “Trials of Old” mission, you’ll be given the job to travel to Porto-Veno castle. The map symbol will guide you towards a corner in Thessaleo Fells, located at the southwest part of Ragunna City. Make your way there to discover the secret behind these supposed trials.

At the designated spot, you’ll encounter a spectral figure or remnant from the past. Following this cinematic scene, you’ll be tasked with accomplishing four distinct tasks scattered across the map. Feel free to tackle them in any order you prefer, and we’ll delve into the specifics of each challenge in the upcoming segments.

Trial #1 – The Paintings (Trial of Wisdom)

The starting point of your current mission points towards an upcoming task where you need to arrange the paintings in their proper order. Clues to help you sort out each artwork are provided here, so be sure to pay attention and adjust them accordingly.

For a smoother process, please collect the entire set of four paintings initially and position them in the center of the stage. Here are the clues that correspond to each painting:

This way, it sounds more conversational and easier to understand for the reader.

  • “Upon this island, the people tamed its wilderness and built new homes.” – The scenic painting with people farming in the foreground.
  • “At long last… after the skies had wept their fury, the fleet spied a new island on the horizon.” – The painting with the ship on the left that has white sails.
  • “Through the raging storm, a handful of ships fought their way through the storm’s wrath.” – The painting with ships that are in the center of the frame.
  • Obviously, the last painting goes on the only remaining empty slot.

After arranging every painting in its proper position, a message will pop up indicating you’ve successfully completed the challenge. In the heart of this arena, an Advanced Prize Chest will materialize. Feel free to open it and collect your reward before moving on to the next test.

Trial #2 – Dodging the Dancers (Trial of Perception)

In the upcoming trial, which follows the last one, we refer to it as the “Perception Trial.” For this round, your camera perspective changes to a bird’s eye view. Your job here is to carefully watch the actions of the Vitreum Dancers, who will enter and move in predefined directions.

In this scenario, simply initiate the trial and observe the movements of the Vitreum Dancers. Once the observation period ends, choose a location where their red paths don’t reach. That’s essentially everything you have to do here.

Here are a few tasks for you, and I must say they’re quite straightforward. You’ve got plenty of time to adapt as needed since the dancers won’t begin their rush until later. In other words, you can make adjustments along the way.

Trial #3 – Fighting Spirits (Trial of Bravery)

The Bravery Trial is essentially another straightforward combat scenario. Your objective here is to vanquish a group of adversaries before the countdown timer hits zero. You have approximately 90 seconds to complete this task, which should not pose much difficulty for any competent squad.

Trial #4 – Fighting Spirits, Again (Trial of Swiftness)

As a gamer, I’ve finally reached the Trial of Swiftness, a combat segment where speed is key and time is of the essence. Unlike other fights, these enemies are scattered across various locations instead of gathered in one arena. What makes this trial even more challenging is that conventional damage methods seem to be ineffective against them.

Every highlighted foe must be vanquished by manipulating surrounding dangers. These critical items can’t be overlooked because they radiate intensely bright light.

To start with, transform into ‘Cuddle Wuddle’ and shatter the stone pillar by slashing the surrounding luminous symbols. Following the defeat of each adversary bearing these markings, you may then move on to the next one without danger.

Over the next two foes, you’ll find yourself needing to grab hold of certain pillars by focusing on the bright orange symbols. It’s worth mentioning that following the second one, you’ll have to traverse some rubble in order to leap over a barrier made of energy, which currently blocks your path.

Once you’ve surmounted the obstacle, all that remains is to yank another support beam followed by destroying two more as Cuddle Wuddle. When you’re done with the final one, the mission should be finished, and an Advanced Supply Box will materialize at the top of the steps.

Once you’ve completed each of the four tasks, no matter their sequence, it’s now time for you to make your way back to Porto-Veno Castle. Here, you’ll find Chloe, the spirit, to whom you can hand over all the medals you’ve earned. Following a brief scene, you may attempt to follow her into the castle, but alas, the gates remain closed.

Once all tasks are accomplished, your journey will reach its end and you’ll be eligible for your prizes. A round of applause, as you’re now free to embark on fresh adventures in uncharted territories!
