Last Saturday at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther had a remarkable performance, keeping his World Heavyweight Championship and retiring a WWE legend, Goldberg, simultaneously. On tonight’s Monday Night Raw, Gunther observed as five of WWE’s top contenders competed in a gauntlet match to earn a chance at his Championship title at SummerSlam. The match yielded more than just one surprise, as it also marked the return of one of WWE’s most celebrated superstars, and you won’t believe who they assisted during their comeback.
Bron Breakker vs Penta
Initially, Breakker faced off against Penta in the match, managing to land the opening blow. However, Penta quickly regained composure and sent Breakker crashing onto the mat with a dynamic crossbody attack. With an astonishing surge of power, Breakker retaliated with a colossal clothesline. But Penta cleverly utilized the ropes to trip up Breakker, sending him tumbling out of the ring. In response, Penta followed up with another impressive move, bringing Breakker down again after a breathtaking dive.
After returning from a brief hiatus, I found myself back in the arena, witnessing an intense confrontation between Penta and Breakker. In a twist of fate, Penta stumbled on the metal steps, but Breakker didn’t let up, goading him further. This provocation, however, seemed to ignite a spark within Penta, who started landing some powerful blows.
Breakker quickly halted his momentum with a brutal slam and an attempt to pin him down. But Penta showed resilience, executing a devastating sling blade followed by a stunning meteora straight to Breakker’s chest. Penta managed to bring Breakker down for a momentary advantage, but that was short-lived as he received a knee strike to the head in retaliation. In an unexpected turn of events, Penta was hit with a spear while airborne, marking the end of his fight in this match.
Breakker vs Knight
As I stepped forward into the arena, ready to share my insights on the unfolding spectacle before me, it was LA Knight’s turn to make his entrance in this grueling gauntlet match. With a fierce determination etched across his face, Knight launched himself into action against Breakker, delivering a relentless barrage of strikes and stomps that left Breakker reeling. The crowd roared as Knight showcased his dominance with a thunderous slam, only to be denied the victory by a mere 2-count.
Knight honed in on Breakker’s vulnerable shoulder and arm, using every opportunity to exert his superior strength. With a cruel twist of irony, he slammed that very same shoulder against the unforgiving ring post, weakening it even further with each subsequent strike. The crowd could see the impact of Knight’s strategy as Breakker visibly struggled to lift him up, his once-unyielding spirit now faltering under the relentless onslaught.
In this wrestling match, the knight executed a powerful slide kick that propelled Breakker onto the announce table. However, Breakker retaliated by using the table to deliver heavy blows on the knight’s ribs, then repeated the attack in the ring. The knight attempted a comeback, but Breakker quickly knocked him back down to the mat. It was evident that the knight’s ribs were causing him considerable trouble.

In their fierce confrontation, Knight and Breaker clashed with a double clothesline, sending each other sprawling onto the mat. Knight soared through the air with a massive flying elbow from the top rope, attempting to pin Breaker, but he barely managed to kick out at 2.5. Knight countered Breaker’s move again, almost sealing the victory, but Breakker retaliated by raking his eyes and following up with a gut-wrenching maneuver that targeted his ribs. With renewed energy, Breaker delivered a powerful spear to finish off Knight, setting his sights on the next challenger.
Breakker vs Jey Uso
Jey Uso stepped into the ring against a tired Breakker. Without hesitation, Jey attacked Breakker with powerful blows and finally tossed him out of the ring with a clothesline. A jump followed, ensuring Breakker stayed outside. After that, Jey played his entrance music again, but this seemed to work against him as Breaker quickly took charge of the match afterwards.

In spite of an error in his calculations, Jey quickly regained momentum by executing a soaring crossbody on Breakker, continuing with aggressive offensive moves that almost resulted in a count of three. Breakker retaliated with the Breakkensteiner from the top rope and attempted a cover, but Jey miraculously avoided it. Breakker charged again, only to be caught off-guard by two superkicks and a spear from Jey. Remarkably, he managed to survive the onslaught. Jey was about to launch another attack, but Bronson Reed intervened, pulling Jey down just in time for Breakker to deliver a decisive spear, securing his victory.
Breakker vs. CM Punk
Without delay, Punk sprinted towards Breakker, landing numerous blows, followed by a powerful throw into the ropes’ corner and a brutal bulldog maneuver that sent Breakker crashing to the ground. Upon resumption after the commercial break, Punk continued his dominance, slamming Breakker forcefully to the mat before hurling him against the corner post. However, during Punk’s next attack from the top rope, Breakker countered effectively, knocking Punk down and creating an opportunity for him to regain his composure.

In a fierce exchange, Breakker delivered a powerful knee strike and mockingly taunted Punk in the corner. He followed up with a pair of suplexes, but Punk managed to get back up. As the match continued, Punk attempted his signature move, the GTS, but it was blocked by Breaker. Instead, he executed a backbreaker, prompting more taunting from Breakker. However, Breaker received a kick to the face in retaliation. Determined, Breaker performed another Breakensteiner, yet again it was countered, this time resulting in a 2-count pin attempt.
In the intense battle, Breakker took a sideways kick to the head, yet Punk failed to capitalize with a pin. Following a series of blows, Punk executed a neckbreaker and a running knee, but Reed attempted another interruption, getting booted off instead. With an elbow drop maneuver set, Punk aimed for a pin, but Breakker managed to kick out once more, leading to the application of the Anaconda Vice. Reed reappeared, delivering an elbow drop on Punk, disrupting the hold. This action brought Jey Uso into the fray, who struck Reed with a superkick and sent him tumbling to the floor. As Breakker prepared for a spear against Punk, Punk countered with a head kick and followed up with the GTS. With a successful 3-count, Punk advances to SummerSlam to confront Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
A Long-Awaited Return
Following the game, Reed attempted an attack on Punk, but was once more shielded by Jey. Meanwhile, Breakker tackled Uso and subsequently Punk. Reed hauled both Punk and Uso to a corner, preparing for a Tsunami. Just then, Roman Reigns made his triumphant return, sprinting towards the ring and knocking Reed out with a Superman Punch before spearing Breakker.
After the game ended, Reed tried to attack Punk but Jey saved him again. Breakker tackled Uso and then Punk too. Reed moved them both to a corner for a Tsunami, but just as he was about to execute it, Roman Reigns returned and punched Reed before spearing Breakker.
The OTC is BACK!

After picking up Reed, Reigns swiftly threw him to the ground and followed with another Superman Punch on Breakker. Now it was Reed’s chance to receive a spear. Standing proudly in the middle of the ring, Reigns assisted Jey to his feet, but he chose not to offer Punk a hand. As Raw concluded, Reigns confronted Heyman and his new team, marking the OTC’s return to the fray at last.
It’s intriguing that although he didn’t physically lift Punk from the ground, he aided Punk indirectly by interfering in the match. This intervention can be linked to his intense dislike for Seth Rollins, who orchestrated the betrayal at WrestleMania 41. Now, Reigns is seeking retribution, but it’s yet to be determined when Rollins will reappear to set up their much-anticipated confrontation.
