The game “BURAI Joukan” (also known as “BURAI Volume One”), developed for the MSX2 platform by Riverhill Soft, will be available on Nintendo Switch this coming early summer in Japan, according to Mebius’ recent announcement.
At its debut, the RPG project called BURAI Joukan was quite substantial, boasting a story penned by Takeo Iijima (now recognized as Takiya Iijima), character designs and original illustrations by Shingo Araki and Michi Himeno, and music from the female rock band SHOW-YA.
As per Mebius’s perspective, the game stands out due to its lengthy 40-minute opening sequence, a narrative centered around peculiar characters, stunning visuals, and exceptional audio quality.
In the Switch edition of “BURAI Joukan”, you’ll find save and load options, rewind capabilities, customizable wallpapers, digital manual access, and additional features. You can even connect your data to its sequel, “BURAI Gekan: Kanketsuhen” (also known as “BURAI Volume Two: Final Chapter”), which will be released at a future date.
In collaboration with the MSX Association, Mebius is creating “MSXPLAYer” for Nintendo Switch. This is an authorized MSX emulator, legally endorsed by MSX Licensing Corporation, capable of running MSX games across various platforms, including the Switch. The upcoming game “BURAI Joukan” will be one of the initial titles to make use of this emulator.
In the future, Mebius intends to frequently publish games licensed by MSX Licensing Corporation and convert many timeless classics.
