
Obsidian Entertainment shared details about upcoming content for Grounded 2, which is currently in Early Access. During the New Game+ Showcase, creative director Justin Vazquez and game director Chris Parker announced that the first big update—nicknamed the Winter update—will add a new area to the map called the community garden, and introduce new insects to that zone.
According to Vazquez, exploring a new area within the park lets the game truly showcase what sets it apart from a typical backyard setting, as seen in Grounded. This means continuing to blend natural, organic environments with structures clearly built by humans, scaled to human size. The new area will also bring back wasps and black ants, both with updated armor and weapons. Players can also look forward to encountering crickets and two kinds of earwigs, which are being added to the game.
This update is awesome! They’re adding a ladybug buggy – seriously! – that’s going to let me zip around the map way faster. But it’s not just for speed, it’s also gonna be my main tank in battles. The coolest part? It has a water cannon on the back, which will be super helpful for taking down those flying bugs. I can’t wait to try it out!
Although the update is called “Winter,” Obsidian Entertainment hasn’t announced a specific release date yet.
