Xbox Developer Direct 2026 Will Feature a “Secret” Fourth Game – Rumour

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Developer Direct is already promising exciting game reveals, but a new report suggests there’s a surprise in store. Industry insider Shinobi602 claims that in addition to titles like Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation, a fourth, unannounced game will also be showcased at the event.

Shinobi602 shared that they weren’t thrilled about the potential announcement of a fourth game, though they didn’t say what the game was. They clarified it simply wasn’t a type of game they personally enjoy, and they didn’t want to discourage others who might be excited about it. They explained, “It’s just not really my kind of game.”

These clues are so unclear that it’s really hard to figure out what game is being teased. However, a recent rumor suggests that MachineGames, the developers, are working on a new Wolfenstein game. The report claims this new installment is planned to coincide with a Wolfenstein TV show Amazon is creating. The studio is also reportedly developing a multiplayer game, potentially similar to Rainbow Six Siege. Another possibility is State of Decay 3, which some believe will be released this year.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Xbox announced something unexpected, as their Developer Direct presentations often include surprises. For example, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush was revealed and immediately released during a showcase in 2023. The following year brought announcements and releases of both Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4.

The upcoming Xbox Developer Direct 2026, scheduled for January 22nd at 10 am PT, will showcase several confirmed games, including Fable from Playground Games, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation from Game Freak. While Fable and Beast of Reincarnation have previously been featured in trailers, this event will offer the first extended look at the next Forza Horizon game since its initial reveal in September, which confirmed the game will take place in Japan.

The game Fable has been in development since 2020, and its progress hasn’t been smooth. Originally planned for release in 2026, reports suggest it might now be delayed until 2027. This potential delay seems to be because the developers, Playground Games, need more time to finish the game.

The game Beast of Reincarnation was first shown in June 2025 with a trailer revealing its fantasy world. Players will experience the game as a young girl traveling through places like traditional Japanese villages and rice fields, accompanied by a wolf. The trailer suggests the game’s main focus is on restoring nature.
