When Crypto Drama Unfolds: Pi Network vs. Bybit CEO!

Ah, the delightful world of cryptocurrency! Where the stakes are high, and the accusations fly faster than a well-aimed quip at a dinner party. Pi Network has taken the stage, responding to the rather audacious claims made by Bybit’s illustrious CEO, Ben Zhou, who has decided to play the role of the concerned citizen, accusing Pi of being nothing more than a scam. How charming! 😏

On the 20th of February, an X account, which rather grandly calls itself the “unofficial technical team” of Pi Network, alleged that the project had turned down a listing offer from Bybit. Oh dear, it seems Bybit is “losing its position” in the market! How tragic! 🎭

In a fit of indignation, Zhou declared Pi Network a “scam,” citing a 2023 report from Chinese authorities that warned users about a project targeting the elderly. “Yes, I still think you are a scam, and no, Bybit will not list scam,” he proclaimed, as if he were delivering a soliloquy on a grand stage. Bravo! 👏

He further insisted that Bybit had never submitted a listing request to Pi Network and challenged them to prove their legitimacy. A classic case of “show me the money!”

Bybit did not submit a listing request to Pi Network

In a rather composed statement to CryptoMoon, a spokesperson for Pi Network denied any romantic entanglement with Bybit, confirming that no Know Your Business (KYB) verification request had been made. How scandalous! 💔

The spokesperson echoed Zhou’s sentiments, stating, “Pi Network has not been asked to KYB Bybit.” They also clarified that there’s no relationship between Pi Network, Bybit, or its dashing CEO. How refreshing! 🌟

Pi Network addresses police warning and user base inflation claims

In a rather bold move, Pi Network responded to the police warnings referenced by Zhou, claiming that the reports involved fraudulent actors impersonating Pi Network rather than the company itself. How very dramatic! 🎭

“To be abundantly clear and to avoid any ambiguity, Pi Network is not affiliated with, did not authorize, and did not engage in any activity that is related to the police warning, and Pi Network has not been contacted by any police department in China regarding this incident.”

The spokesperson added that Pi Network condemns any of the alleged activities by any bad actor. A noble stance, indeed! 🦸‍♂️

Addressing the criticisms over its user count, a frequent point of contention among skeptics, the spokesperson stated that the 60 million users it advertises are application users. Quite the impressive number, if I do say so! 📈

Pi also pointed out that in the Google Play store, the app has already exceeded 100 million downloads. “The 60 million Engaged Pioneers number is actually much lower than the total number of registered users on the app, which is a metric that many companies typically share,” the spokesperson said. A clever bit of marketing, wouldn’t you agree? 💼

As for the 10.8 million users shown by blockchain explorers, a number often used by critics to undermine Pi, the company explained that they were the total number of users who have already created wallets on the blockchain. A rather technical detail, but important nonetheless! 🧐

Pi Network clarified that the number is lower than their engaged users because mobile app users must complete multiple steps, including a Know Your Customer verification to create a wallet and receive their PI
