Laufey Corrects Photographer Calling Her Megan at Golden Globes

Laufey would prefer if you got her name right from the start, but she’s happy to correct you.

Okay, so, I was losing it when Laufey – Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, the actual queen – finally appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet this January. She was stunning, seriously, in this incredible orange Balenciaga dress. But honestly? It was driving me crazy that all the photographers kept yelling “Megan!” at her. She had to keep politely correcting them, which, good for her, but UGH, it was just so disrespectful! Like, learn her name, people! It’s Laufey! I was so proud of her for handling it with grace, even though I wanted to yell at them myself.

“Actually, my name is Laufey,” the artist clarified with a laugh in a video posted on social media by Deadline. “I’m not sure where that came from…” (You can find more Golden Globes 2026 red carpet coverage here.)

The photographers were surprised by the announcement, with one exclaiming loudly. This made Laufey laugh as she headed into the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, where Nikki Glaser is hosting the 83rd annual ceremony. The event will be broadcast on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+.

Although photographers struggled a bit to get a good picture, Laufey perfectly matched the night’s theme. Her outfit’s color was similar to the one featured in the Best Picture nominee, Marty Supreme.

The film, starring Timothée Chalamet (nominated for Best Actor – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes), Gwyneth Paltrow, and Odessa A’Zion, has heavily featured orange in its marketing. Timothée Chalamet even wore a full orange outfit with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, at the Los Angeles premiere.

He hinted in a January 4th interview with Entertainment Tonight that his signature orange hairstyle might not be around forever, saying, “But you’ll see.”

Laufey wasn’t the only celebrity inspired by Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s style. At the Critics Choice Awards on January 4th, Paul W. Downs and Megan Stalter, from the show Hacks, also dressed in similar colors.

Megan playfully told TopMob News, while on the red carpet, that she wasn’t sure what her outfit was! She explained her stylist had simply chosen it for her, and it turned out to be an exact copy of the dress Kylie Jenner wore to the Marty premiere.
