Fans are getting a first look at a new role for The Boys star, who promises to play another delightfully wicked character in an upcoming action thriller—this time, with pirates! The film, starring the highest-paid actress in Bollywood, follows her character as she battles through intense challenges when her history as a pirate resurfaces. It’s set to premiere on [Platform Name] next month.
Frank E. Flowers directed and co-wrote The Bluff (with Joe Ballarini), a film starring Priyanka Chopra as Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden. Karl Urban plays Captain Connor, a man with a complicated past with Ercell – he was once her owner, lover, and leader, but now seeks revenge. The film also features Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, and Temuera Morrison. The Bluff will be available on Prime Video on February 25, 2026. A short teaser is available now, with the full trailer coming this Wednesday, and the official story details are included below.
Ercell Bodden, known as “Bloody Mary” (played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas), believed she’d left her days as a pirate and the violence that came with them behind. She was building a peaceful life in the Cayman Islands with her husband, T.H. (Ismael Cruz Cordova), their son Isaac (Vedanten Naidoo), and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green). However, her past catches up to her when her former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking revenge, shattering her newfound peace.
Ercell is forced to face her painful past when she’s pulled into a dangerous world of secrets and fighting for survival. Skilled with swords, clever with traps, and driven by her love for her family, she battles Connor’s ruthless crew in a fierce struggle. As she fights to protect them, Ercell begins a journey to find herself again, rediscovering the powerful warrior she used to be. Set against the stunning scenery of Cayman Brac’s Skull Cave and dramatic cliffs, The Bluff—from producers Anthony and Joe Russo—is a thrilling action-adventure about family, staying alive, and the incredible strength of a mother’s love.
“It Was Scary. It Was Bloody. It Was Brutal.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who plays the lead in the action film The Bluff, shared that she researched the history of pirates while preparing for the role. She was surprised to learn about women pirates, stating, ‘I had no idea women were ever pirate captains. I didn’t realize it even happened, especially considering real piracy was much more dangerous and violent than the way it’s often portrayed in movies like Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. It was truly a scary, bloody, and brutal time.’

Karl Urban delivers a terrifying and compelling performance as Captain Connor, a pirate whose violent nature and backstory are explored, revealing how he became the ruthless character audiences will love to despise.
This character used to work for the East India Trading Company, and was actually instrumental in helping them build their empire. But once they were finished with him, he was essentially cast aside and labeled an outlaw. I found that story compelling – a man who created something grand, only to find he didn’t have a place in the world he helped build.
