The first major PlayStation 5 exclusive game of 2026 is launching shortly, and it’s been specifically optimized for the upgraded PS5 Pro console. This means PS5 Pro owners will enjoy enhanced features and improvements compared to those with the standard PS5. This is particularly good news since the first big multi-platform game of the year, releasing later this month, won’t offer those same upgrades for the PS5 Pro.
I’m so excited! Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo just announced Nioh 3, and it’s coming out on February 5th, 2026! It’s great news that it won’t be a PlayStation 5 exclusive – we PC gamers will get to play it too. Sadly, it looks like Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2 fans will have to sit this one out.
PS5 Pro Enhanced
You’re likely curious about how Nioh 3 will be improved on the PS5 Pro. While the game is confirmed to have enhancements, details are still scarce. Based on hints from the developers, we anticipate features like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, enhanced DualSense controller use, and a smoother framerate. However, none of these improvements have been officially announced or explained.
For those new to the series, this game follows Nioh (2017) and Nioh 2 (2020), with Nioh 2 actually being a prequel to the original. However, this third installment takes place after the events of both previous games. Given the high scores (88 and 86 on Metacritic) of the first two Nioh games, there’s good reason to expect Nioh 3 will be a major release when it comes out in early 2026.
Nioh 3 will cost $69.99 when it launches on both the PS5 and PS5 Pro. Currently, it doesn’t seem like it will be available as part of any subscription services like PlayStation Plus at the time of release.
