One Piece Season 2 Trailer: Baroque Works’ Devil Fruit Powers Revealed

The Straw Hat pirates are about to encounter their toughest enemies yet in the Baroque Works organization, and a new trailer for the second season of the One Piece live-action series gives fans a good look at them. Based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, the Netflix series follows Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji – a diverse crew sailing the Going Merry – as they search for the legendary treasure and strive to make Luffy’s dream of becoming the Pirate King a reality.

Season 2 of One Piece follows the Straw Hat crew as they begin their journey on the Grand Line, a dangerous route said to lead to the ultimate treasure. Along the way, they clash with Baroque Works, a shadowy organization trying to topple a struggling kingdom. The Straw Hats become enemies of Baroque Works after forming an alliance with someone who threatens the organization’s leader.

Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of One Piece, which returns on March 10th. Titled “Rise of the Baroques,” the trailer gives fans a first look at the villains the Straw Hat crew will be facing this season, including David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, and Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek. It also highlights the unique abilities granted by their Devil Fruits. You can watch the trailer below.

The new trailer for One Piece season 2 highlights several members of Baroque Works, but Lera Abova’s character, Miss All-Sunday, appears most prominently. Her Devil Fruit power, the Flower-Flower Fruit, lets her create copies of her body parts and attach them to opponents, as demonstrated in the trailer when she easily defeats several Navy soldiers while walking by. Although the season’s ending point isn’t yet known, it looks like the reveal of Miss All-Sunday’s true identity will be held for the confirmed season 3.

The season 2 trailer unexpectedly revealed Yonda Thomas as Mr. 8, though his casting didn’t generate as much buzz as some of the other new actors. Mr. 8 is shown using his signature Igarappappa fighting style, which involves shooting guns hidden in his hair. Like Miss All-Sunday and several other characters this season, Mr. 8 is part of Baroque Works and has a secret motive involving the Straw Hat Pirates. His storyline might be held over for a potential season 3 if the current season becomes too crowded.

The season 2 trailer also features Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday. While she still doesn’t have a lot of screen time, the new footage suggests she’ll soon be joining forces with the Straw Hat pirates. We see her running away with Nami from Miss Valentine during a battle in Whisky Peak. Fans of the original One Piece story know that Miss Wednesday will play a significant role as her loyalties start to change and she moves away from the Baroque Works organization.

The latest trailer for One Piece season 2 isn’t just teasing the big plot points – it also gives us a good look at the various members of Baroque Works that the Straw Hat crew will be facing. We get a particularly strong focus on Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 3, who will be central to the Little Garden arc and provide a tough fight with their unique Devil Fruit abilities – controlling wax and emotions. Since the Little Garden story is expected alongside the arcs of Whisky Peak, Reverse Mountain, Loguetown, and Drum Island, the Baroque Works will likely play a significant role throughout much of the new season.

One Piece season 2 begins streaming on Netflix on March 10.
