Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t departing from his love for Italian cuisine. 

At the 2026 Golden Globes on January 11th, host Nikki Glaser playfully teased 51-year-old actor about his past relationships with significantly younger women.

“Leo, my apologies for that joke – it was a bit lazy, and I really didn’t want to make it,” the comedian said while performing. “Honestly, we don’t know much about you. I’ve looked, and the most detailed interview I could find was in Teen Beat back in 1991. Is pasta still your favorite food?”

The fast reaction online caused a lot of playful speculation, and people quickly dissected the interview with the same intense scrutiny usually reserved for Leonardo DiCaprio’s romantic interests.

Back when he was 16, Leo – standing 5’3″ and weighing 120 pounds – enjoyed reading Lord of the Flies, playing basketball and baseball, and listening to music by Pink Floyd and MC Hammer, especially the song “U Can’t Touch This.” He shared this with Teen Beat magazine at the time.

He shared that he’d always dreamed of being an actor, and mentioned his favorite performers: Jack Nicholson and Meg Ryan. He also named Parenthood and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest as two of his favorite films.

Despite his success as an Oscar winner, he considered other careers. He shared that he’d like to study oceanography someday. He was also environmentally conscious, even then, saying his ideal car would be a solar-powered 1982 Jaguar.

He loved the colors black and purple and was a big fan of the Nike brand. He often watched The Twilight Zone, his favorite TV show, and enjoyed listening to Harry Connick Jr., who was his top musical artist. However, he also said he preferred a mix of reggae, rap, and world music.

And yes, he listed pasta three times when asked about his favorite food.

This observation remains relevant. When Nikki told the joke, the individual at the table confirmed its accuracy with a nod and a thumbs-up.
