Sean Penn Shocks Golden Globes Guests by Smoking at His Table

Sean Penn is living in the ‘90s. 

During the 2026 Golden Globes, actor Chase Infiniti was seen smoking a cigarette at his table. He was seated with his fellow cast members Leonardo DiCaprio and Teyana Taylor, who won an award for Best Supporting Actress.

A reporter from the Wall Street Journal at the Beverly Hilton on January 11th posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “This can’t be legal.” This was a reference to the fact that California law has banned indoor smoking since 1995.

Okay, so Vanity Fair said something else – apparently, Sean Penn was smoking at a party! Can you believe it? They said he actually lit up inside, while everyone else was scrambling around outside trying to find a spot. And get this – it was the same party where he was with his kids, Dylan and Hopper – they’re both grown up now, 34 and 32! It’s just…Sean being Sean, I guess. It reminded me of when he was with Robin Wright, his ex, they were always so effortlessly cool. I just…I need to know everything about him, honestly!

At the Golden Globes, the 65-year-old caught attention for more than just smoking indoors. Comedian Nikki Glaser playfully joked during her opening remarks that he seemed out of touch with current Hollywood beauty standards.

Glaser playfully pointed out the town’s focus on anti-aging, contrasting it with Sean Penn seemingly embracing a unique transformation – becoming a stylish leather handbag. She found the idea surprisingly appealing, calling it ‘hot’ and ‘good’.

The comedian then made a joke about the actor – who starred in Mystic River – and his commitment to charitable work.

She explained that while many actors say they care, Sean Penn is different – he genuinely goes to the most troubled areas around the world and, surprisingly, even does cocaine while he’s there.

Penn wasn’t the only one Glaser playfully teased. DiCaprio also received a comment about his relationship with 27-year-old Vittoria Ceretti.

“You’ve had an incredible career,” she said to him. “So many memorable performances, working with all the best directors… three Golden Globes, an Oscar! It’s amazing you achieved all that before your girlfriend turned thirty.”

As she jokingly emphasized, “I mean, it’s just insane.”
