Today, Sony discreetly rolled out a fresh update for both the standard PS5 and PS5 Pro models. So far in 2025, only around six distinct updates have been released for PlayStation 5 consoles by Sony. These updates haven’t brought significant changes thus far, leading to anticipation among PlayStation enthusiasts for more substantial quality-of-life upgrades within the platform. Regrettably, this latest update doesn’t seem to deliver the long-awaited enhancements that many have been asking for.
Starting today, the update version 25.05-11.60.00 is now accessible for PlayStation 5 consoles. Similar to previous patches, Sony indicates that this update focuses primarily on enhancing system software performance and ensuring greater stability. In other words, while you won’t find significant changes in the console’s user interface or features, this update should provide a smoother gaming experience overall.
If significant changes are coming to the PS5, it’s probable they’ll happen towards the end of this year. Typically, Sony rolls out its most substantial software updates for the PS5 during the last few months of each year. Since Sony might be planning another large update to release in 2025, we should anticipate hearing about what it will entail ahead of time. At present, however, we’re kept in the dark and must make do with routine, everyday updates like the one we recently got.
What’s your take on the fresh PS5 update that Sony rolled out today, and what further enhancements would you suggest to improve the overall quality of the PS5 hardware? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comment section beneath this post.
