The journey towards Halloween has commenced! Though it’s only July, retailers like TJ Maxx are already displaying their Halloween decorations, signaling the beginning of the “Spooktacular Season” for many. We’re all eagerly anticipating the end of summer’s heat and the arrival of autumn, making this an ideal time to start watching spine-tingling movies to set the mood. Fortunately, Amazon Prime Video has recently added a film that serves as an excellent opening act for Halloween movie marathons.
Amazon’s streaming platform has recently made available the relatively unnoticed thriller, Haunt, which was released in 2019 by directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, also known for their work on A Quiet Place. Despite a modest box office take of around $2 million, Haunt received positive reviews and has since garnered a dedicated fanbase. Thanks to Prime Video, tracking down Haunt is now simpler than ever before.
If you’re not acquainted, the story titled “Haunt” takes place on Halloween night and revolves around a bunch of friends who decide to explore a supposedly haunted house. The house claims to tailor scares specifically for each visitor, making it one of the scariest Halloween attractions out there. However, as the friends soon discover, the staff at this house harbor evil intentions. Instead of just having a fun time on this spooky holiday, they end up playing a lethal game of cat and mouse.
Although the movie “Haunt” had a short theater run and modest success initially, it has thrived online for six years now. It was Shudder’s top addition in 2019 and has since moved to various streaming platforms. Now, you can find “Haunt” not only on Amazon Prime Video but also on free services such as Kanopy, Hoopla, and The Roku Channel.
