EastEnders airs dark Ravi Gulati scenes amid revenge story in early BBC iPlayer release

This article contains discussion of self-harm that some readers may find upsetting.

After a tense climax yesterday, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) continued his plan to get revenge on Harry and Nicola Mitchell (Elijah Holloway and Laura Doddington) in EastEnders.

The aggressive Walford resident confronted them with a baseball bat after discovering they were responsible for putting something in his drink the previous week, which caused him to have hallucinations of his deceased father, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).

As fans may remember, Ravi’s hallucinations got much worse, leading him to attack someone. He didn’t realize he was hurting his son, Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury).

He was later hospitalised with a bleed on the brain, leaving Ravi guilt-ridden.

Today on the show, a worried Nic explained they never meant to hurt Nugget. Their real issue is with Ravi, who they believe involved Harry and Dayo Koleosho in a drug operation.

While he started breaking picture frames, she explained their actions, stating that what he’d done was minor compared to the weeks of suffering Harry endured when Okie Okyere (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu), a henchman of Ravi, held him captive and forced him to swallow pills.

Nic quickly took her phone and secretly called George Knight (Colin Salmon), explaining the situation and asking for his help. He arrived just as Ravi started accusing the mother and son of being responsible for Nugget’s injury.

Harry suddenly jumped to prevent the man from swinging the bat, and in the process, both he and Ravi crashed through the glass coffee table. It wasn’t until Priya Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) showed up that he understood how wrong he was and decided to leave.

She brought him back to her place and tried to soothe him, assuring him that even though things felt bad right now, the difficult time would eventually end. She believed both Nugget and he himself would feel better soon.

Later that night, when Ravi was alone and struggling with his emotions, he examined his injuries and began to hurt himself.

Will Ravi be OK?
