Initially, when the initial “Angry Birds” video game was launched in 2009, it’s hard to believe that people would have thought it could become a successful movie right away. The mobile game gained immense popularity, leading to numerous installments featuring angry birds battling against mischievous pigs. As with any popular franchise, “Angry Birds” eventually caught the attention of filmmakers and was turned into a movie in 2016, followed by a sequel a few years later. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, both films did well financially at the box office and on streaming platforms. Now, preparations are underway for a third “Angry Birds” movie to hit theaters in 2027.
The upcoming film “Angry Birds Movie 3” will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. This third edition of the series is being jointly produced by Rovio, SEGA, and Namit Malhotra from Prime Focus Studios, with assistance from Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and Dentsu. The success of “A Minecraft Movie” has prompted Paramount Pictures to schedule a global cinema release for “Angry Birds Movie 3” on January 29th, 2027. Though the film is a few years away, many of its cast members have already been confirmed.
The announcement of this project took place in 2024, and it was then confirmed that Sudeikis and Gad would reprise their roles as the main characters. A brief teaser trailer hinted at production being underway, but not much more information was shared until now. We can now confirm that this film is scheduled for a global theater release in 2027, and several voice actors have also been enlisted to contribute to the project alongside the lead characters.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 Cast, So Far
Essentially, it’s worth noting that Jason Sudeikis, Jsh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride will reprise their roles as Red, Chuck, Silver, and Bomb respectively. They are joined by a large ensemble of new voices, including Emma Myers from ‘Wednesday’, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily Games, Marcello Herandez, Walker Scobell, Sam Richardson, Anna Cathcart, and others. These fresh additions boast impressive comedic skills from shows such as ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘Ted Lasso’, to name a few.
In the upcoming third installment of “The Angry Birds Movie,” renowned director John Rice will take the helm, having previously directed the original film. Thurop Van Orman, who worked on both “The Angry Birds Movie 2” and the new movie, is in charge of the screenplay and will also serve as an executive producer, much like Toru Nakhara from “Sonic The Hedgehog.” Additionally, John Cuben, Dan Chuba, and Carla Connor are involved in the production of the film.
At this point, details about the narrative of the third Angry Birds film are scarce. Nonetheless, it’s apparent that familiar faces from the first two films will reappear in the third movie, alongside a host of fresh characters. As we edge closer to its theatrical release on January 29th, 2027, expect more revelations about the storyline that’s set to take flight in cinemas.
