Streaming services are off to a great start in 2026. Netflix ended 2025 with the popular finale of Stranger Things, cementing its place as one of the platform’s all-time most-watched shows. They’ve also launched a new hit mystery series, Run Away, which quickly became very popular. And they’re planning even more releases throughout the year. It’s only been a couple of weeks, but streaming services are already proving they’re where people are going for entertainment.
While Netflix has dominated conversations this year, HBO Max is also generating buzz. This weekend, the network premiered the latest season of its drama, Industry, co-produced with BBC One. Though not as widely recognized as shows like The Last of Us, Peacemaker, House of the Dragon, or the upcoming IT: Welcome to Derry, Industry has consistently attracted a dedicated audience and critical praise. Viewership numbers now suggest the show is reaching an even wider audience.
HBO’s Industry Is an Immediate Hit With Season 4 Premiere

As a total TV junkie, I’m keeping an eye on the numbers, and right now Industry is holding strong at number three on HBO Max, according to Flix Patrol. Normally, being at number three wouldn’t be a huge deal – it means other shows are more popular. But the shows ahead of it are The Pitt, which is absolutely exploding in popularity, and the new season of Primal, which is a big draw for Adult Swim fans. Interestingly, Industry was actually number two yesterday, so it hasn’t lost much viewership despite slipping down a spot. It’s still doing really well!
The HBO Max series Industry is currently performing well on the platform’s Top 10 list, following strong reviews. As of today, Season 4 has received 32 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an impressive 96% approval rating and a “Certified Fresh” designation. This consistent quality isn’t new for Industry – Season 3 earned a 98% rating, and Season 2 also scored 96%. The first season, released in 2020, is the only exception with a 76% rating. It appears more viewers are discovering this compelling drama, which is exactly what streaming subscribers want – a show worth watching that won’t be cancelled prematurely.
HBO’s Industry takes place in the fast-paced world of London investment banking, which might not immediately appeal to all viewers, especially since the first seasons feature mostly unknown actors. However, strong performances from leads Ken Leung and Myha’la quickly draw you in, even if some of the financial terminology is confusing. Later seasons added some familiar faces, like Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones, Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things, Kal Penn, and Kiernan Shipka from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It remains to be seen if the show can keep up its momentum, but the new season is off to a promising start.
