Ahsoka Season 2 Needs to Confirm 1 Crucial Theory About Anakin Skywalker’s Destiny

Hayden Christensen is reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker in Season 2 of Ahsoka, which has many fans thrilled. However, the show needs to address a significant inconsistency regarding his character’s death. Anakin Skywalker is undeniably the most important figure in the Star Wars galaxy, with the entire Skywalker Saga revolving around him and his choices. Despite dying in Return of the Jedi in 1983, he’s continued to appear in numerous subsequent projects, and for good reason.

Hayden Christensen has confirmed he’ll be back for Season 2 of Ahsoka, continuing the role he began in Season 1. In the first season, Anakin Skywalker appeared to Ahsoka in a mystical realm to help her reach her full potential. He also briefly appeared as a Force Ghost at the end, hinting at more appearances now that he’s become one with the Force.

Although Anakin Skywalker becoming a Force ghost was hinted at decades ago, Star Wars has never actually explained how he achieved this, particularly how it happened so fast. The new season of Ahsoka should finally reveal the details of his transformation.

When Return of the Jedi came out, the idea of becoming a Force Ghost wasn’t a major plot point. Obi-Wan Kenobi first communicated with Luke Skywalker using the Force during the attack on the first Death Star. Later, in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he appeared as a Force Ghost with little to no explanation about how it was possible.

Later installments, Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars, revealed that Jedi must learn a specific skill to become Force Ghosts. In The Clone Wars, Qui-Gon Jinn guided Yoda on how to move beyond physical existence and connect with the Force. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda promised to teach Obi-Wan this same ability, implying that both Yoda and Qui-Gon would help Obi-Wan become a Force Ghost as well.

Since The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith revealed that becoming a Force Ghost requires training, fans have developed numerous theories about how Anakin Skywalker achieved this. Now, Season 2 of Ahsoka has the opportunity to either confirm these theories or offer a new explanation.

Theories About How Anakin Skywalker Became a Force Ghost

Fans of Star Wars have developed some logical explanations for how Anakin Skywalker could become a Force Ghost, even though he never received formal training in that area. These theories could be revealed in Season 2 of Ahsoka and would resolve a major mystery that has puzzled fans since Return of the Jedi in 1983.

Many fans believe Anakin Skywalker’s unique connection to the Force stems from his unusual birth. As shown in The Phantom Menace, he had no father, essentially being created by the Force itself. Given this origin and his immense power within the Star Wars universe, it’s logical to suggest his consciousness continued to exist even after his death.

I’ve always wondered if Anakin Skywalker becoming a Force ghost was a direct result of him fulfilling the prophecy. He did bring balance to the Force, and it feels like that single act could have been enough to automatically grant him that ability, a reward for saving the galaxy.

The most probable explanation appears in a story from the book From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. It’s important to remember that while the From a Certain Point of View series is considered official, it doesn’t always perfectly align with the main storyline. This is because the stories are told from the perspectives of characters within the story, and those characters aren’t always completely reliable. So, while the details are generally accurate, there might be some minor inconsistencies.

The story continues after Anakin’s death on the second Death Star. As he died, he became aware of a feeling – one he hadn’t experienced in a long time…

After Anakin’s death, Obi-Wan appeared to him and they had a conversation. While the details aren’t revealed, the story suggests Obi-Wan instructed Anakin on how to transform into a Force Ghost and fully join the Force.

Given the close bonds between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and Ahsoka’s relationship with them both, it would be powerful and moving if Anakin revealed to Ahsoka that Obi-Wan was the one who helped him become a Force Ghost. This could be seamlessly woven into the story during Season 2 of Ahsoka, finally resolving a question fans have had for over four decades.
