Tomb Raider Reveals First Look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft

Prime Video has a lot of exciting projects planned for the next two years, and fans are especially looking forward to the new live-action Tomb Raider series. The show boasts a talented team, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Chad Hodge, and stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. Now that production has started and we’ve gotten our first glimpse of Turner as Lara Croft, fans of the franchise have plenty to be excited about.

I just got a first look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, and wow, they really nailed the look! The photos from the set show her in the classic outfit – the green top, brown shorts, and those signature red-tinted sunglasses. Plus, the holsters are perfect. It honestly feels like Lara Croft just walked straight out of the video game!

Okay, as a longtime fan, I can confidently say the first look at this Tomb Raider series is exactly what I was hoping for! It really captures the spirit of the franchise – that classic adventure vibe is definitely there. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Taylor Turner seem to have nailed the tone, and honestly, I’m already counting down the days until it finally premieres. It looks good.

Tomb Raider’s Future Has Rarely Looked This Promising

The Tomb Raider series has faced a bit of a slow period recently, not because of poor quality, but simply a lack of new releases. The only recent project was the Netflix show Tomb Raider: Legend of Lara Croft starring Hayley Atwell, which, despite a well-received second season, won’t be continuing. On the gaming front, things were quiet until the end of the year when Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition came out for Nintendo Switch and earned positive reviews.

News about Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jamie Campbell Bower joining the live-action Tomb Raider series began circulating last year, and as more cast members were announced, the show started to feel increasingly likely. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.

The Game Awards announced exciting news for Tomb Raider fans: not one, but two new games are in the works and are coming sooner than many expected. First, a modern remake of the original Tomb Raider, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is scheduled for release in 2026. And for those eager for a brand new story, Tomb Raider Catalyst will continue the saga in 2027.

Now is an exciting time for Tomb Raider fans, and if the series continues to be successful, the future looks very promising.

The live-action Tomb Raider series doesn’t currently have a release date.
