Woman Who Claimed to Be Freddie Mercury’s Secret Daughter Dead at 48

One woman’s yearslong health battle has ended.

I was so saddened to hear about the passing of B, the woman who claimed to be Freddie Mercury’s daughter. She was 48 years old and bravely battled cancer for years. Her husband, Thomas, shared the news with the Daily Mail on January 15th. I followed her story closely after she revealed her claims in a book published in 2025, and it’s just heartbreaking.

Thomas announced that his wife died peacefully after a long struggle with chordoma, a rare cancer of the spine. She is survived by their two sons, ages nine and seven.

He continued, saying that B was now reunited with her cherished father in a peaceful realm of memory. Her ashes were scattered over the Alps, carried away by the wind.

In her 2025 book, Love, Freddie, author Lesley Ann Jones details a claim made by a woman known as B, nicknamed “BiBi.” B alleges she is the daughter of Freddie Mercury, born from a brief relationship in 1976. She also states she possesses DNA evidence to support her claim, but has not yet made it public.

After learning of B’s passing, Lesley expressed her sadness. She told the Daily Mail she was heartbroken by the loss of a close friend who had approached her with a generous goal: to finally set the record straight about Freddie’s life, confront those who had spread misinformation for decades, and reveal the truth.

Lesley explained that, looking back, her colleague’s dedication was the most important thing. Despite being sick for the four years they worked together, she was completely focused on her goals and always prioritized others over herself.

Lesley’s book centers around 17 diaries reportedly given to her by Freddie shortly before he passed away in 1991.

According to the book, Freddie Mercury wrote the Queen songs “Bijou” and “Don’t Try So Hard” about a person referred to only as ‘B,’ whom he affectionately called his ‘treasure’ – the French word ‘trésor’.

After the book Love, Freddie was published in September, many of Freddie Mercury’s friends and family were surprised to learn he had a daughter, something he never mentioned during his life. This included his ex-fiancée, Mary Austin.

Mary told The Sunday Times that she never knew Freddie kept a diary, even when they lived together around the time the first entry is supposed to have been written. She also said neither she nor his bandmates were aware of any children he might have had.

She believed Freddie was a very open person and wouldn’t have kept something so happy to himself, either from her or his other loved ones. She added that sharing this news would have made Freddie, and people who cared about him – like his parents – incredibly happy.

She felt that Bomi and Jer Bulsara would have loved her very much. However, she doesn’t recall Freddie ever mentioning wanting to start a family.
