Guy Fieri Shares Health Update After Tearing His Quad Muscle

Guy Fieri seems to be recovering well after a recent injury. Just over a month ago, the popular Food Network star tore a muscle in his leg after a fall, and had to have surgery. He recently shared some good news about his progress.

Guy Fieri, 57, says he’s recovering well after a leg injury. In an interview with People magazine, he described a difficult holiday season but expressed gratitude for being able to move around again. Fieri, known for his active lifestyle – he enjoys CrossFit and hiking – found eight weeks without those activities particularly challenging. He’s eager to get back to them, but is taking things slowly.

The injury happened in November while filming Flavor Town Food Fight. Fieri tripped while stepping forward, catching his foot and tearing his leg. He had surgery soon after and spent the past eight weeks getting around with a wheelchair and crutches.

The celebrity chef, who has two children – Hunter, 29, and Ryder, 18 – with his wife, Lori Fieri, is thankful he’s recovering well, but he’s also being careful not to rush things.

My doctors have warned me not to push myself too hard and risk a setback, but I’m determined to move forward. I’ve told them I absolutely won’t go back to how I was feeling before – it was the most difficult experience of the last two decades. However, I’m confident I’ll be fully recovered and ready to go by the time the Super Bowl arrives.

Despite his accident, Guy didn’t stop working on the new show, Flavor Town Food Fight.

I was actually in surgery when we were all set to film with all the chefs and a crew of 125 people! We had to quickly adjust and get creative with how we filmed. It’s been a busy time, and now I’m at the ranch, enjoying hiking and being outdoors – it’s a beautiful place to be.

Being stuck at home didn’t just mean he got to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The host of Guy’s Grocery Games also had to limit his time in the kitchen, and ended up having his sons and nephew, Jules, handle Thanksgiving dinner.

Okay, so you know how much I adore Guy Fieri, right? Well, he was telling me about his sons – Hunter, Ryder, and Jules – and how they’re all amazing cooks! He’s recovering from something, and he’s SO excited to basically be the coach from his wheelchair, directing them while they cook for a HUGE crowd – like, forty people! He called it an ‘adventure,’ and honestly, just imagining it makes me so happy! It’s just… peak Guy, you know?

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and facing criticism online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online attention. Thankfully, doctors determined her case of Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own, and she’s now relieved to be healthy. She shared this positive update in a February 2024 newsletter, calling it the best news she could have hoped for.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, including difficulty speaking and drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often called a ‘mini-stroke.’ Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey later shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, saying, “I appreciate every prayer, because I needed every prayer.”

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always amazed by stories of resilience, and Emilia Clarke’s is truly inspiring. Many of you probably remember her as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but behind the scenes, she was facing a hidden battle. Back in 2019, she bravely shared her health struggles in an essay for The New Yorker. It started with a terrible headache at the gym, quickly escalating to a point where she knew something was seriously wrong. She described a frightening experience, collapsing and realizing her brain was damaged.

It turned out she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She needed immediate surgery, and even after that, recovery wasn’t easy. She experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently, but thankfully, that passed after a week. She spent a month in the hospital, and thought she was on the mend, but a follow-up scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had grown, requiring a second, even more invasive surgery. This time, doctors had to access her brain directly through her skull. She described the pain as unbearable.

But here’s the incredible part: Emilia is now fully recovered and says she’s at 100%! It’s a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the importance of prioritizing health, even when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. Her story is a testament to how far medical science has come and a beacon of hope for anyone facing similar battles.

She says she’s doing great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise feeling fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with her health throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and digestive issues. She saw many doctors who offered different diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused.

Drawing on her background in holistic medicine and herbalism, Shailene sought answers from both traditional doctors and alternative healers, hoping to find comfort and understand her body.

This search for wellness lasted ten years. The physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and eventually to body image issues and questions about her identity.

Fortunately, after years of addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She’s grateful to be in a good place.
