As a longtime X-Men fan, I’m absolutely thrilled about what’s coming in 2026! After the events of the Age of Revelation, things are really changing, and I can’t wait for the ‘Shadows of Tomorrow’ era. Not only are we getting some awesome new solo titles, but Marvel is launching what sounds like the biggest X-Men series yet: X-Men United! It’s hitting shelves in March, written by Eve L. Ewing and illustrated by Tiago Palma. What I’m most excited about is how it’s going to bring together all of the X-Men – characters from different generations, teams, and even time periods! They’re even introducing a brand new school called Graymatter Lane. ComicBook just gave us a first look at the cover by Mike Del Mundo, and it’s stunning – it’s really building the hype for this eagerly awaited series!
The cover art, shown below, depicts Wolverine acting as a crossing guard – likely for a new school for mutants. It’s charming to see him fully dressed in a crossing guard vest, carefully helping a group of young mutants cross the street safely.
Graymatter Lane Won’t Be Your Typical X-School

The X-Men have had schools before, but Graymatter Lane is different. Marvel describes it as a global center for all things mutant, connecting them from around the world and even beyond. Emma Frost is the founder, and the school boasts a powerful faculty including Wolverine, Magneto, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. They’ll also have visiting teachers from across the Marvel Universe. However, not everyone is convinced another mutant school is a good idea.
X-Men United #1 introduces a new chapter for the X-Men! Charles Xavier asked them to build a school, and they have – but it’s unlike anything anyone expected. Graymatter Lane is a global campus where mutants can learn from each other and develop the skills they need to survive. With the most powerful X-Men as instructors, students from around the world are working together to evolve mutantkind – all while facing a growing danger that threatens them all.
According to Marvel’s Tom Brevoort, X-Men United will be a central hub for the entire mutant universe. Building on the legacy of series like Astonishing X-Men and Wolverine & The X-Men, the story will bring together all the key X-Men characters for battles, relationships, and conflict resolution. Expect plenty of action, drama, familiar and new faces, and numerous threats. The initial arc will reveal which young mutant is seriously hurt and which X-Man is to blame, a secret discovered in Mr. Sinister’s laboratory, and a long-distance couple finding their way back to each other—all while Cyclops attempts to sabotage the whole operation.
X-Men United #1 goes on sale March 11th from Marvel Comics.
