
Nintendo dominates the Japanese video game market and has for some time, but Sony continues to make progress with the PS5, and things are gradually improving for the console there.
A more affordable PS5 model was released in Japan late last year, offering support for the Japanese language only. It has quickly become a hit, with sales steadily increasing in recent weeks.
Famitsu reports (via Gematsu) that total PS5 sales reached 46,753 units during this period.
By comparison, Switch 1 models totalled 46,360, so PS5 outsold it by just a hair.
While these sales figures haven’t significantly impacted Nintendo’s leading position in the market, it’s encouraging to see an upward trend.
