Colman Domingo's Jaw-Dropping Met Gala Look

Colman Domingo showed up and showed out at the 2025 Met Gala.

As a lifestyle expert, I can’t help but share my excitement about the stunning moment at this year’s Met Gala red carpet. The Sing Sing actor made heads turn with an unforgettable wardrobe reveal. He dazzled us all with an epic oversized checkered jacket and wide-leg trousers, accessorized perfectly with a polka dot scarf tie and a large black flower on his lapel. He shared with Zuri Hall from TopMob at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 5th, “I was part of the Zoot suit revolution in the 1940s – focusing on fabric and tailoring. Everything I’m wearing is custom Valentino and adorned with Boucheron jewels, which make me shine, as the Black men from my upbringing often wore numerous rings, including pinky rings.

He added, “I’m representing a lot of men, so I want to make sure I stood up for them.”

At first, Colman, aged 55, chose to hide his custom outfit beneath a blue coat, explaining that this accessory too was connected to the night’s theme.

He mentioned that the piece had an air of a church robe, respecting the tradition of the Black church. He elaborated by saying he aimed to emphasize how we express our spirituality in all aspects of our lives.

To be precise, the Oscar nominee underscored that the event’s theme symbolized a significant milestone in fashion history, particularly for Black males.

He expressed, “There aren’t many chances to tell you, ‘You count. The way you handle things and present yourself counts. How you contribute and show up is important,'” he went on. “I believe I was chosen as co-chair for this event because I have broad arms. I want us all to be in this area together so we can stand a bit taller, particularly given our current circumstances.
