I’m so excited! Target Books is releasing new novelizations of three classic Doctor Who two-part stories this year, and as a big fan, I can’t wait to read them!
One of the upcoming novels will be based on the season one episode “Aliens of London,” which first aired in 2005. This two-part story introduced viewers to the Slitheen aliens and starred Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. While originally written by Russell T Davies, the final script for the episode (which continued in “World War Three”) was penned by Joseph Lidster.
The novelization of ‘The Satan Pit,’ a two-part story from Doctor Who’s second season (originally broadcast in 2006 with ‘The Impossible Planet’), will be penned by the original writer, Matt Jones. This episode famously introduced the Ood to audiences and featured David Tennant as the Doctor, alongside Billie Piper, Danny Webb, and Shaun Parkes.
Okay, so I’m really excited about the next Doctor Who novelisation – it’s going to be ‘The Time of Angels,’ which originally aired back in 2010 as part of a two-parter with ‘Flesh and Stone.’ It’s a Matt Smith and Karen Gillan story, and honestly, it’s a big deal because it brings back the Weeping Angels! What’s cool is that Jenny T Colgan is adapting Steven Moffat’s original scripts for the book, so it should really capture the feel of those episodes.

The book adaptations will also become available as Audible audiobooks on March 26, 2026, and will feature voice work from some well-known Doctor Who actors.
Camille Coduri, who played Jackie Tyler, will narrate the Doctor Who audio drama Aliens of London. Claire Rushbrook (Ida Scott), Ronny Jhutti (Danny Bartock), and Silas Carson (the voice of the Ood) are joining her for The Satan Pit, alongside Maureen O’Brien, who originally played companion Vicki. O’Brien will also be the reader for The Time of Angels, bringing this scary story to life as an audio adventure.

With the TV series not back until a Christmas special that continues the story from last season’s finale, these novelisations are intended to keep Doctor Who fans entertained in the meantime.
Russell T Davies, the creator of the show, recently told BBC Newsbeat that although he hasn’t written the upcoming special yet, he’s discussed the storyline with BBC executives, who were very impressed and excited by it.
Doctor Who is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
