The highly anticipated second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is set to be a major anime event in January 2026. As Frieren continues her journey to understand humanity, the series is gaining widespread attention. Notably, a prominent anime creator is now contributing their talent to depict the beloved character, bringing a fresh and unique perspective to the story. Though not yet as well-known as Frieren, this other franchise has become a significant force in the anime world.
I was so excited to see Gōshō Aoyama, the amazing creator of Detective Conan, draw a fantastic tribute to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End! It’s incredible – Detective Conan has been running since 1994, and it’s become a huge franchise, right up there with One Piece in terms of how long it’s lasted. Seriously, the anime is almost at 1,200 episodes – that’s legendary! Aoyama-sensei even posted a congratulatory message on Twitter to the team at Madhouse for Frieren’s second season, and shared the new artwork. You absolutely have to check it out – it’s a really cool crossover!

Frieren’s Case Isn’t Closed
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of Frieren, but the second season will be shorter than the first. The first season had twenty-eight episodes, while the second is expected to have only ten. There’s a possibility of more episodes – perhaps a second part to the season, or even a movie or third season – coming after it finishes, but nothing is confirmed yet. Plus, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga is still being released, which means we could see even more anime seasons in the future.
The popular series Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan, continues to release new episodes, movies, and spin-offs regularly. However, North American fans have faced difficulties accessing the entire series. While Crunchyroll and Netflix have added many episodes, a significant number are still unavailable. Hopefully, the complete series will eventually become accessible in North America, allowing Detective Conan to achieve the same level of popularity as other well-known anime franchises like Dragon Ball Z and One Piece.
Although there’s no official announcement yet, a crossover between these two anime series isn’t out of the question. Last year, we saw a collaboration between Frieren and Solo Leveling through a mobile game, so something similar could happen with these characters. A big animated crossover is probably unlikely, but anything is possible in the world of anime.
