Whatever Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s souls are made of, theirs are the same.
The actress, known for her role in Barbie, described her experience playing Catherine alongside Jacob’s Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which comes out February 13th. She said she developed a strong, almost dependent relationship with him very quickly during filming.
Margot, 35, remembered that during the first few days of filming, Joaquin Phoenix would consistently stay nearby, but would observe from a distance. By the third day, she found herself actively looking for him on set, wondering where he was positioned, as she expected him to be close by.
When Margot first couldn’t see Jacob—after she married Tom Ackerley in 2016—she admitted to feeling disturbed and lost.
She confessed she felt completely lost and vulnerable, like a child who had lost a comforting object. She kept wondering, ‘Where is he?’
Meanwhile Jacob, 28, joked it was a “mutual obsession.”
He explained that working with Margot Robbie is a special experience, no matter the project. He said you’d definitely want to be close by – within five to ten feet – just to observe her, even during simple things like having tea or eating a meal.
As he put it, “I was enamored by her.”
I’ve always been fascinated by on-set romances, or even just really strong connections! It’s not surprising to hear about Jacob and Margot getting close playing lovers – it happens! But it’s so sweet to think about Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes actually finding each other while filming ‘The Place Beyond the Pines.’ And honestly, the chemistry between Ryan and Emma Stone is amazing – they’ve built such a strong bond after working together on ‘La La Land,’ ‘Gangster Squad,’ and ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’ You can really see it on screen!

Actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who married Dave McCary in 2020, explained that she and Dave immediately connected while filming the 2011 romantic comedy they worked on together. She believes their strong connection is evident in their later projects.
Oh my gosh, she actually said this in 2017 to Entertainment Tonight! She described them as just friends, which, okay, fine, but she also said he’s a truly wonderful person and an incredible actor! I knew it! They have such amazing chemistry, and it’s so clear he’s not just gorgeous, but seriously talented. It just… it breaks my heart a little that they’re ‘just pals,’ but I live for any little detail she shares about him!

Emma Watson has revealed she had a childhood crush on her Harry Potter co-star, Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy). During the 20th anniversary special, she admitted to falling for him while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, excitedly checking the daily call sheet for his name. While fans playfully wished for a romance between the two after hearing this, Emma has clarified that they are just close friends. She told British Vogue that they still talk regularly and find the fan speculation “sweet.”

Remember how Ross and Rachel seemed like they could have been a couple in real life? During the Friends reunion on HBO Max, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer – the actors who played them – revealed there was definitely a mutual attraction during the show’s first season. David explained that they both had crushes on each other, but timing never worked out because one of them was always dating someone else. They always respected those boundaries. Jennifer recalled jokingly saying to David that it would be disappointing if their first kiss happened on national television – and that’s exactly what happened, during a scene in the coffee shop! Instead of pursuing a real-life romance, they put all their affection into their characters, Ross and Rachel.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are one of the most beloved on-screen couples ever, and fans have been hoping they’d become a real-life couple since their 1996 film, Titanic (even playfully teasing Kate about the infamous door!). Despite that, they’ve maintained a close friendship, with Kate recently sharing that they share a lifelong bond. From their red carpet appearances at the 1998 Golden Globes to DiCaprio’s sweet support during Winslet’s moving 2009 Golden Globes acceptance speech, it’s clear their connection has only deepened over the last twenty-plus years.

The intense chemistry between the actors in the 2019 film A Star Is Born, and the attention they received during interviews and appearances, led many fans to overlook the fact that both were already in relationships at the time – Bradley Cooper with Irina Shayk and Lady Gaga with Christian Carano. Despite this, Gaga shared that she felt an immediate and strong connection with Cooper, saying she felt it “the second that I saw him.” This closeness was especially apparent at the 2019 Oscars, where they performed their award-winning song, “Shallow,” hand-in-hand, just days after Gaga had ended her engagement.
Following their performance, Lady Gaga quickly dismissed rumors of a romance with Bradley Cooper, telling Jimmy Kimmel that the connection they displayed was intentional. Cooper, who later split from Irina Shayk that year, didn’t address the speculation until November 2021, when he told The Hollywood Reporter that the onstage chemistry was part of the act. He explained that their characters in the film were falling in love during that scene, and the performance captured that intense, public moment – adding that it would have been awkward if they hadn’t appeared connected while performing for such a large audience.

For decades, fans have speculated about a possible romance between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock after they starred in the 1994 film Speed. However, Sandra has repeatedly denied they were ever a couple. In an interview with Esquire, she playfully responded to the rumors, saying, “Nope…but who knows?” She explained that Keanu is the kind of person who remains friends with everyone he’s dated, and she believes they could have potentially had a successful relationship. Ultimately, though, they simply developed a comfortable, supportive friendship over the years, enjoying each other’s company and collaborating on projects like 2006’s The Lake House.
Sandra often praises Keanu’s ability to listen as one of his best qualities. She recalled a sweet gesture from about a year after filming Speed when she casually mentioned she’d never tried champagne and truffles. A few days later, Keanu surprised her by personally delivering those items, along with flowers, explaining he just wanted her to experience them.

Fans love seeing Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling together on screen, having starred as romantic leads in three movies, including La La Land. Though they’ve never been a couple in real life, working together has created a strong connection between them. At a 2018 film festival, Emma shared how much Ryan means to her and how he’s influenced her life and career, calling him a “dear, wonderful friend” and saying she can’t imagine her life without him. She even admitted getting emotional thinking about him, adding, “He’s so special.”
Before La La Land came out in 2016, Emma jokingly told a news outlet that Ryan had a “restraining order” against her due to the number of films they’d done together.
Despite the joke, Ryan said he enjoys working with Emma, explaining that their familiarity allows them to bring out the best in each other in a way that wouldn’t be possible with a stranger.

Jim and Pam, the characters played by John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer on The Office, are one of television’s most popular couples. Fans followed their relationship throughout the show’s nine seasons.
Despite the strong on-screen connection, John and Jenna never became romantically involved in real life. However, Jenna has said they shared a genuine connection as their characters. She explained that a part of her felt like Pam, and a part of John felt like Jim, and those sides of them truly loved each other. She clarified that they weren’t perfect for each other outside of their roles, but they were close partners and will always share a special bond.
John later addressed Jenna’s comments in an interview with The Daily Beast, saying he believes they both feel honored to have played such a beloved couple. He felt her words about being “genuinely in love” were misinterpreted and expressed concern for her having been misquoted.
Ultimately, the memory of their characters’ love – symbolized by the teapot from the show – will always remain.

Lady Gaga isn’t the first actress Bradley Cooper has been romantically linked to. His chemistry with Jennifer Lawrence in films like Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle led to years of speculation.
Back in 2015, Howard Stern even bluntly asked Bradley, “When are you two gonna have sex? Everyone is waiting for that.” Bradley immediately shut down the rumor, saying, “Never. It’s just not the way we are together.”
Similarly, at the 2013 Golden Globes, when Entertainment Tonight asked if he and Jennifer were dating, Bradley laughed and firmly denied it, saying, “Oh my god. That’s very funny. No, my God, no.”

Oh my gosh, I loved Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! Seriously, everyone was shipping them so hard after that movie came out in 2006 – we all wanted them to get together in real life! It just…never happened, and it still makes me a little sad! I heard Matthew talking to Howard Stern a while back – October 2020, I think – and he basically said he just doesn’t date his costars. He said he likes to keep things professional, and that everyone he’s worked with has been really good about that. He even admitted they might have had little crushes on each other here and there, but they always managed to stay professional. Ugh, a girl can dream, right?
And with that, the chance for their love to blossom died, just like that love fern.

These top-tier friends have amazing chemistry on screen – think Ocean’s Eleven – and that connection clearly extends to their real-life relationship, which is a close and supportive friendship. You can see it in their fun interviews, heartfelt public comments, and even the fact that George Clooney often lets the Roberts-Moder family use his beautiful Lake Como home for their anniversary. It’s a testament to their genuine bond!

Every New Year’s Eve, people always speculate about whether best friends and CNN’s Live From Times Square co-hosts, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, have ever been more than just friends.
During an interview on Howard Stern’s radio show, Andy was asked why he hadn’t fallen in love with Anderson. He explained that romance simply wasn’t the foundation of their relationship. He believes they’ve become too close as friends and aren’t attracted to each other that way.
Interestingly, the pair were originally set up on a blind date over 25 years ago.
Anderson recalled on The Tonight Show in 2017 that when straight people meet two gay men, they often try to set them up. He said he knew within 45 seconds on the phone that he wouldn’t be going on a date with Andy.
He explained that Andy made a dating faux pas by asking about Anderson’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.
Andy jokingly admitted he was excited about the possibility of dating someone from the Vanderbilt family!

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt enjoyed working together on their 2009 film, 500 Days of Summer. However, Joseph later confessed in a 2012 Playboy interview that dating Zooey, who was also a long-time friend, would have been uncomfortable. He added that they both found it amusing that fans wished they were a couple, noting they’d been friends for a decade.

Before Zac Efron officially dated his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, many people thought he was involved with their close friend Ashley. The rumors started when he appeared as her on-screen love interest on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody in 2006.
Even now, Zac and Ashley remain very close, with Ashley often referring to him as her “brother/best friend.” However, she did jokingly call him her worst onscreen kiss in an interview with Elle, explaining that it felt awkward because they were so close.
She said he tried to kiss her with his tongue, which prompted her to push him away and remind him that it was Disney Channel and they didn’t kiss like that on the show. She added that their close relationship, after already working together and knowing each other for years, made the experience particularly strange.

Though they played a couple – Chad and Taylor – on High School Musical, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman remained close friends after leaving the Disney series.
The pair recently shared the screen again in the 2021 Lifetime Christmas movie, A Christmas Dance Reunion. Corbin shared on Instagram that working and dancing with Monique after 13 years felt like reconnecting with family, and that starring in a Lifetime Christmas movie had always been a dream, especially alongside someone he considers a favorite person.
Monique also hopes to collaborate with her “best friend” again, telling People magazine that they have a special chemistry reminiscent of iconic movie couples like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. She believes they have similar potential and would love to explore more projects together.

Despite playing the famously ambiguous couple Mulder and Scully on The X-Files, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson didn’t always get along while filming the show. In a 2008 interview with Metro UK, David admitted they frequently argued during the first eight years of the series. He explained that being around each other so much led to tension, saying it wasn’t about personal dislike, but simply that they “couldn’t stand the sight of each other.”
Despite their on-set disagreements, fans continued to root for a real-life romance between the two actors. A photo from a lunch date in May 2021 went viral, which David found amusing. He told People that Gillian suggested they take a picture, and he was surprised by the huge reaction it received. He said it’s “really cool” that people are still interested in their connection after so many years.

As someone who keeps a close eye on celebrity connections, I’ve noticed the incredible chemistry between Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans! Fans have been shipping them for years – ever since they first worked together back in 2004. While they’ve shared the screen in eight films since then, they’ve never actually dated. But after a decade of working together, they’ve built a really deep and comfortable connection. Scarlett herself explained it beautifully – it’s that intimacy you get from truly knowing someone, understanding their vulnerabilities, and spending a lot of time together. It’s a natural result of a long-term working relationship evolving into a genuine comfort level.
