Nigella Lawson tipped to replace Prue Leith on The Great British Bake Off after judge quits

Following Prue Leith’s announcement that she’s leaving The Great British Bake Off after nine seasons, reports suggest a replacement judge has already been identified.

According to The Sun, Nigella Lawson, the popular food writer and TV chef, is close to signing a deal to appear on the show.

According to a source, Nigella is famous around the globe. She’s known for her playful and witty style, and her work often includes the same lighthearted, suggestive humor seen on shows like Bake Off.

Prue has been great, but we’re confident Nigella will be a big success. We’re finalizing her contract, and if everything goes as planned, she’ll be joining us in the tent very soon!

Lawson would become only the fourth judge in the show’s 16-year run. She’d be alongside Paul Hollywood, who has been a judge from the beginning, and would follow Prue Leith and Mary Berry, who both previously held the position.

She’s hosted many cooking shows throughout her career, like Nigella: At My Table and The Taste. Most recently, she appeared in a special BBC program called Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas.

I was so sad to hear that Prue Leith is leaving Bake Off! She shared a message saying how much she’s loved being part of the show for the last nine years, and that she’ll really miss working with Paul, Alison, and Noel, as well as everyone at Love Productions and Channel 4. It sounds like she genuinely cherished her time on the show, and I know we’ll all miss her too!

Now feels like the perfect time for me to retire – I am 86, after all! There are lots of things I want to do, including simply enjoying my garden during the summer months. I’m confident whoever takes over will find the work as rewarding as I have, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of it all.

The Great British Bake Off returns later this year.
