After more than fifteen years of delays, the new Masters of the Universe movie is set to release in 2026. This is the second film based on the popular franchise, following the 1987 movie with Dolph Lundgren, and stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, also known as He-Man. Now, the first trailer has arrived after a brief glimpse of Galitzine as He-Man wielding the Power Sword last year, and it looks incredibly exciting! It makes you want your own Power Sword!
Prince Adam’s connection to Earth has always been through his mother, but the new Masters of the Universe movie expands on that story. It begins with Adam crashing onto Earth as a child and losing his Power Sword. Fifteen years later, he reclaims the sword and returns to Eternia, only to find it under the cruel rule of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. Alongside allies like Teela (Camila Mendes) and Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), Adam must fight to free his home and fulfill his fate as He-Man.
Honestly, the trailer really focuses on how much Adam’s settled into a normal life, you know, being a regular guy. But all it takes is a little push – like someone waving a sword at him – and he’s instantly back to wanting to be a hero, which is great! Because let me tell you, he’s going to need all his strength and energy to defeat Skeletor and his whole crew.
Thankfully, Jared Leto isn’t appearing in this film, which might help viewers accept the villainous Skeletor without being distracted by memories of his previous roles in Morbius or Tron: Ares.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morenna Baccarin as the Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, Kristen Wiig as Roboto, James Purefoy as King Randor, and Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena. Cringer will also appear as Battle Cat, though his voice actor hasn’t been revealed yet. The movie is directed by Travis Knight, known for Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, and the screenplay was a collaborative effort by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.
The new Masters of the Universe movie arrives in theaters on June 5, 2026. Before then, you can enjoy other recent He-Man adventures! Stream Masters of the Universe: Revelation and its sequel, Revolution, plus the latest animated series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, all on Netflix.
