A well-known actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dismissed a popular fan theory about the upcoming VisionQuest series. For months, many Marvel fans believed Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, would make a cameo appearance alongside Paul Bettany’s Vision in the 2026 show. This idea started with a picture that surfaced online last spring. In March 2025, fans discovered what they thought was concept art for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars movies online.
I saw this cool concept art floating around showing Peter Quill – Star-Lord – chilling on a couch with White Vision, and everyone immediately thought it was for a future Avengers movie. But lately, more and more fans, myself included, are starting to wonder if it might actually be a hint for VisionQuest instead!
However, that idea was proven false when Chris Pratt shared some updates about his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While promoting his new movie, Mercy, Pratt was asked if he’d be reprising his role as Star-Lord in 2026.
After Hargrave playfully confirmed Star-Lord’s return, Pratt admitted, “That’s right… Eventually.” He then explained, “We did promise fans that Star-Lord would be back, and I always try to keep my promises.”
You know, it’s happening eventually. It might not be as soon as 2026, but we did promise Star-Lord would be back, and I always try to keep my word. It means a lot to me to follow through on commitments like that.
This likely means the actor won’t appear in either VisionQuest or Avengers: Doomsday, ending speculation that Pratt might have had even a minor part in one of those films.

There were earlier rumors that Chris Pratt’s superhero character was going to appear in the Doomsday series, but so far, there’s been no official confirmation about a possible role in the Paul Bettany show.
Chris Pratt’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was hinted at in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which concluded with a message promising “The legendary Star-Lord will return.” However, the character hasn’t appeared in any Marvel projects since. Later this year, Disney+ will release VisionQuest, a series continuing the story of Paul Bettany’s White Vision after the events of the 2021 series WandaVision.
Who Could Cameo in VisionQuest?

Even though Star-Lord isn’t expected to appear in the upcoming VisionQuest series, that doesn’t mean fans won’t be surprised by other familiar faces. After all, it’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe – expect some exciting cameos!
I’m so excited for the series! I think the biggest surprise, honestly, is that Ultron is coming back. Yes, the Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron! Apparently, James Spader is reprising his role as the chaotic android, and he’ll be going up against Vision. What’s even cooler is that he won’t be alone – his partner, Jacosta, played by T’Nia Miller, will be there with him. It’s going to be amazing!
The new Disney+ show will also feature several other AI characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the popular FRIDAY, EDITH, and JARVIS.
It’s still unclear who some of the mystery characters on VisionQuest will be. There’s speculation that Joe Locke, who plays Wiccan (Vision’s son with magical abilities), might appear, as well as Ruaridh Mollica as his super-fast brother, Tommy Maximoff/Speed.
If the Maximoff twins are both in the new show, there’s a chance their mother, Wanda, might appear too. However, because she’s officially still dead within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that’s probably not going to happen.
