If all the world’s a stage, these are its biggest players.
On January 22nd, actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman revealed the nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards. These nominations recognize the outstanding actors and films of 2025. (You can find a complete list of nominations here.)
Before the nominations were announced, several films – including Hamnet, One Battle After Another, Sinners, Marty Supreme, and The Secret Agent – were predicted to be frontrunners, largely due to their positive reception at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes.
All of the films mentioned—including Brazil’s The Secret Agent, which was also nominated for Best International Feature—were contenders for the Best Picture award. The list also included Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Sentimental Value, and Train Dreams.
Many expected Michael B. Jordan, Timothée Chalamet, Jessie Buckley, Leonardo DiCaprio, Wagner Moura, Elle Fanning, Wunmi Mosaku, and Jacob Elordi to receive acting nominations, and they all did—earning recognition as either lead or supporting actors.
Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle), Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Chloe Zhao (Hamnet), Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme), and Joaquim Trier (Sentimental Value) all received Best Director nominations for their films.
This year’s Oscar nominees included several newcomers, such as Jessie, Wagner, Jacob, and Michael. Notable among them were Rose Byrne (known for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”) and Delroy Lindo (from “Sinners”).
Following her nomination, Teyana detailed how it felt like her own movie moment.

She recently told TopMob News that she fell asleep watching Pretty Woman, and started thinking about how hard it can be to find a happy ending. But when she woke up, she realized she was actually living one – a beautiful, unexpected chapter that felt like a dream come true, prepared for her by a higher power.
But even for those who have been nominated—and won—before, the shine never wears off.
The nominations were announced two months before the awards ceremony on March 15th, and Conan O’Brien will be hosting again this year. What was his reaction to being asked back for a second time?
Taco Bell is launching its new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme, responding to popular demand, according to a recent announcement. And, in a separate bit of news, the speaker revealed they will be hosting the Oscars.

I was completely shocked when I heard the news and just started screaming,” she told Deadline right after the nominations were announced. “I honestly can’t believe it – it’s such an honor, and I’m speechless.
Byrne expressed being deeply honored to be nominated alongside Jessie Buckley, Renate Reinsve, Kate Hudson, and Emma Stone. In a statement, she described the film as a special gift, and playing Linda as a career highlight. She felt incredibly humbled by the Academy’s recognition of the film – a ‘punk rock’ story – and shared the honor with Mary Bronstein, acknowledging it as beyond her expectations.

The actor said playing the character of Larry Hart was the biggest challenge he’d faced in his four decades of acting. He also shared that it was a real honor to work on the film with his close friend and highly respected director, Richard Linklater.
He reminisced about first reading Robert Kaplow’s exceptional script for Blue Moon, now an Oscar nominee, which beautifully portrays both the risks and rewards of a life dedicated to art. He expressed gratitude to The Academy for acknowledging their film and, through it, the contributions of the talented cast, crew, and entire team who brought the project to life in Ireland.

I seriously can’t believe it! When I saw the Academy Award nomination announced, I just kept thinking, ‘Is this real life?’ I was completely speechless and honestly, a little breathless! It’s such an incredible honor, especially because it’s for a film that really celebrates the magic of movies and the importance of family. The best part? My mom, grandma, sister, and aunt were all here with me this morning, and we were just screaming, hugging, and crying tears of joy together!
Elle expressed her excitement and joy, saying, “I’m so thrilled! Everyone from the movie received a nomination!”
“To be an Academy Award nominee is beyond anything I ever allowed myself to fully believe was possible,” the One Battle After Another star shared in a statement. “I am so deeply emotional, so humbled, and so grateful for every person who has walked this road with me & honored to be nominated alongside these amazing women in my category.”

I’m incredibly grateful to the Academy for this honor,” said Amy, in a statement. “It’s amazing to think it’s been forty years since my first Academy Award nomination for TWICE IN A LIFETIME, and I never imagined I’d be experiencing this again. Playing Aunt Gladys and seeing how much people loved the character these past few months has been a real joy. I’m truly humbled by this nomination and proud to be recognized alongside such talented actresses.

Maggie reacted to the Best Picture nomination—and other accolades—for the movie based on her book by calling it “astonishing and joyous.”
She expressed her gratitude to the Academy for the nominations, acknowledging the hard work of everyone involved in Hamnet. She added that she never imagined the novel would receive such recognition and feels like she’s dreaming, constantly having to remind herself it’s real.
