The nominations for the 2026 Oscars are out, and it was a record-breaking year for film – with the movie Sinners being a major part of that success.
That film set a new record with 16 nominations, but Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet also achieved a milestone by receiving nominations for their performances in Bugonia and Marty Supreme, respectively.
At 37, Emma Stone’s Best Actress nomination makes her the second-youngest person and the youngest woman to ever receive seven Academy Award nominations. Only Walt Disney, who reached seven nominations at 34, has done it at a younger age. Previously, Meryl Streep held the record for the youngest woman to achieve this, reaching seven nominations at age 38.
Emma Stone made history as the first woman to receive two Academy Award nominations for both producing and acting in the same film. She earned these nominations for Bugonia and Poor Things. Previously, Frances McDormand was the first woman to achieve this feat once, receiving nominations for both roles in the 2021 film Nomadland.
I’m continually amazed by Timothée Chalamet! It’s incredible to me that, at just 30 years old, he’s already broken records as the youngest male actor to receive three acting nominations. It started with Call Me by Your Name, then A Complete Unknown, and now Marty Supreme – what a talent!
He’s a producer on the Best Picture-nominated film, Marty Supreme, making him the youngest person ever nominated for both producing and acting in the same year. The previous record holder was Warren Beatty, who achieved this at a slightly older age of 30, with his 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. Beatty held the record for 58 years.
Emma Stone is competing for Best Actress alongside Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), and Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value).

Timothée Chalamet will compete with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Wagner Moura for the Best Actor award. DiCaprio is nominated for his role in One Battle After Another, Hawke for Blue Moon, Jordan for Sinners, and Moura for The Secret Agent.
Both films starring Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet—Bugonia and Marty Supreme—are nominated for Best Picture, along with F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams. These ten films are all competing for the award.
The 98th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 15th March.
