The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga is quickly becoming more intense, hinting at a significant and potentially shocking death. Since the start of this new storyline, the manga has consistently surprised readers. While Boruto’s incredible power boost after the time skip initially grabbed attention, other characters have also been developed. The story has explored relationships, like the bond between Sarada and Sumire as they navigate their feelings for Boruto. However, the most compelling part of the series so far has been the non-stop action, with one exciting battle after another against the Divine Trees.
Even with all the fighting, the core conflict hasn’t really changed. The story has tried to create shock value – like when Inojin was seriously injured – and then quickly resolved it, often with a convenient save. So far, only villains have died, which feels like a missed opportunity. Considering the heroes are battling incredibly powerful opponents, more losses would naturally increase the tension. Now, it seems the series is finally prepared to raise the stakes by killing off a human character, and surprisingly, many fans are anticipating this controversial outcome due to the character’s role in the story.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Is Setting Up Its First Death in a Political Way

Kobu first appeared in the Boruto manga as an advisor to the leader of the Land of Fire, and he’s been involved in Konoha’s political issues ever since. He’s focused on finding those supposedly helping Boruto, working solely as a political figure. However, things get more intense in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 30, “All Them Nuisances,” when Kobu insists on meeting with Shikamaru even while the village is under attack by Mamushi. This has made fans dislike Kobu, as many hope he’ll finally understand the danger posed by the Divine Trees and how vulnerable the Hokage is.
During a major attack, Kobu kept interfering and demanding to continue questioning people, which was causing problems. Kashin Koji intervened and used his abilities to put Inojin in control of Kobu’s body, essentially forcing Kobu into the fight. The chapter concludes with Mamushi becoming openly hostile towards Kobu, who is now being controlled by Inojin. Kobu is a politically important figure, and his death could be a turning point, potentially making Konoha and the Land of Fire realize the true danger of the Divine Trees. However, if a young ninja like Inojin were responsible for Kobu’s death while possessing his body, it would create a huge scandal.
It’s ironic that Inojin has already seemingly died once in the Boruto manga. While the current situation is causing debate, putting a young, developing ninja like Inojin – who is learning from Koji – in such a dangerous spot could significantly impact his character going forward. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has many possible paths it could take, but if Kobu ultimately dies, it would be the first truly shocking death of a major character and would dramatically raise the stakes for the series.
