The Switch 2 has been selling very well since it came out last year, but many Nintendo fans are hoping for a major, exclusive game to really make the console a must-have. That game might be Pokemon Pokopia, the first-ever life simulation Pokemon game, which is coming this March. Even though Nintendo hasn’t released a lot of exclusive games for the Switch 2 yet, the number of games available is steadily increasing. Plus, many other companies are releasing improved versions of their games specifically for the Switch 2, including a promising and relaxing adventure RPG reminiscent of Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Similar to many independent games today, The Witch’s Bakery started with a very successful Kickstarter campaign. The game exceeded its funding goal by more than four times, showing strong gamer interest in the Parisian-inspired adventure, which draws inspiration from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Sunny Lab Games initially announced a 2026 release on all gaming platforms, and now they’ve confirmed that includes a special version for the upcoming Switch 2.
The Witch’s Bakery Reveals Switch 2 Edition & Physical Pre-Orders (But There’s a Catch)

Let me explain what The Witch’s Bakery is all about, in case you haven’t heard of it. It’s a cozy RPG set in Paris, and the developers have said it’s inspired by the Studio Ghibli film Kiki’s Delivery Service – you can definitely see that influence in the game’s artwork, which shows a witch flying on a broom. You play as a witch who starts a bakery in present-day Paris. The game involves exploring the city, helping people with their problems, and running your magical bakery.
This RPG management sim is highly anticipated, gaining over 4,500 wishlists on Steam and 50,000 followers on X. While a firm release date isn’t set, it’s currently expected in the second quarter of 2026 – not too far away! Plus, in addition to Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, a special version is also being developed for the upcoming Switch 2 console.
Sunny Lab Games announced on January 22nd that The Witch’s Bakery is coming to the Switch 2. Excitingly, a physical copy of the game will also be available, which is unusual for indie games these days. You can pre-order physical editions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and the new Nintendo Switch 2. As a bonus for pre-ordering, you’ll receive a digital cookbook with recipes inspired by the game’s baking!

Despite the excitement, some fans are disappointed with the physical release of The Witch’s Bakery on the upcoming Switch 2. Instead of a full game cartridge, the Switch 2 version will be a Game-Key Card, requiring a digital download. The game will be available as a traditional physical copy on both the Switch and PlayStation 5. While some are unhappy with this approach for the Switch 2, players will still be able to purchase a physical version of the RPG on other platforms.
Hey, is anyone else excited about The Witch’s Bakery? I’ve got it on my wishlist, and I’m checking out the discussion over on the ComicBook Forum – you should come join us and share your thoughts!
